I couldn't
They were popular. Again my sister had them primarily. I did buy several. My go to tapes looked like Robocop used them lol
I couldn't
It removed the polarity and particles from the tape deck head that came off of the ribbon, it would clean up the sound.
A Head Demagnetizer is used to remove built up magnetism in the tape path & heads that can and does cause sound degradation AND can damage tape recordings
life was so simple
The Lord Sear effect. They used to mostly play music and talk briefly, until he got on board,I remember those days of getting any brand of 120 min tapes and setting my tape up to record as much Stretch & Bob as possible after I passed out.
Only to click play and hear them go into one of those weird talk breaks/roasting sessions
.
These was my go-to.
I got a boom box for Christmas when I was 7 years old and I was addicted.
I would make tapes all day off the radio or CDs.
My uncle was a DJ and I would take his tapes and tape over them shyts... but eventually he caught on
So I started going to Rite-Aid and stealing tapes... weekly
Side question - How did you guys repair chewed tapes? Were you always successful doing so?
I remember unscrewing and fixing chewed tapes by cutting the chewed part and using actual adhesive tape to tape the cut ends.
Sometimes it didn't work though.
Always thought this gave the best sound.
Thee the best
Da Grey Tapes...IYKYK
NJJ= legendThis was my go to. So many damn jewels and hip-hop memories courtesy of these gems right here.
Even just seeing pictures of all these cassettes in this thread brings back some ill ass nostalgia of days past.
Before I even learned to label my tapes, I could tell which tape was which and had what songs on it just by looking at it. A certain scratch on the edge or face, a smeared letter, a chip off the coating. It was like a dog being able to recognize all of her puppies that look exactly alike to humans. That red and black maxell right there? Oh yeah, that one got my Redman freestyle, some Ras Kass tracks off the radio, and that new Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip joint.
