Go to a forum that is primarily liberal, like NeoGaf, and say that you find homosexuality to be "disgusting," even though you have no problems with homosexuals as individuals. See how many times you get called a homophobe before getting banned.

Maybe on that website, which I've never heard of, but the majority of liberals/progressives do not call people homophobes if they find gay sex disgusting. On the internet, the extremists are always going to be more vocal and pronounced. We can't use message boards as an accurate barometer for the nation. If that's the case most of the country is white supremacists because I read youtube comments.

This liberals stuff is getting a little old now btw. Something like 55% of people support gay marriage now.

That makes no sense at all. The issue at play is not peoples' personal taste and sense of revulsion or attraction to individual sex acts. It is whether or not people who have an orientation of being attracted to the same sex should be ostracized, demonized, and discriminated against.

If your entire summation of "the homosexual lifestyle" is simply the sex acts that they might perform, then you have a very narrow lens and fixated on sex in a pretty strange way. Is the entirety of your attraction and relationships with women limited to the sexual acts you do?

I wouldn't call anyone a homophobe for being disgusted by the thought or sight of two men having sex because I disgusted by that. But I have the wisdom to not say this person should be demonized or hated just because they happen to do something in their bedroom I find disgusting. Wise people can distinguish that.

If you're saying that it's bullshyt to say that anyone who finds two men fukking each disgusting is a homophobe, then I agree. But when you get into this "I don't accept the homosexual lifestyle, fukk these fakkits" stuff, that is ignorance, that is homophobia, and that is bigotry. It seems you can't separate the value of someone's humanity from what sex acts they perform.

I don't think getting cosmetic surgery (ie. breast implants) is a normal activity, but that doesn't mean it should be illegal, nor does it mean I should demonize people who choose to get it. It's a free country and it doesn't hurt me.

Irrational disgust is homophobic, though. I'm never going to want to see men kissing or having sex with each other, but that also doesn't mean seeing two men holding hands in the street fills me with disgust or automatically conjures up explicit images of gay sex (it doesn't, I'm indifferent to it) or that I'm not going to sit next to someone on the train because they might be gay, or that I'm going to reject friendship with someone because they might be gay. That is homophobia.

If someone finds homosexuality "disgusting," that is considered to be a form of homophobia. If you told a homosexual "hey man I personally think what you do in your bedroom is disgusting but since I don't have to see it I have no problem with you," they wouldn't consider you to be a homophobe in at least some capacity?

I post on NeoGAF frequently and to be honest, you deserve a banning on GAF for something like that. Most of the time when people are giving their aesthetic opinion on homosexuality in the types of topics there, they're either derailing the fukk out of an issues thread or plain trolling. I think gay sex is gross, but i wouldnt drop my opinion on it needlessly in say, the chick fil a thread because it serves no purpose to the topic.

No, not at all. I have joked about that with gay co-workers or friends before, and heard other people do that as well. They joke on how they find straight sex disgusting, too, when I talk about a beautiful woman. It's no big deal.

actually, this depends on your post history. much how like a joke from a friend you know to be cool with you about ethnicity you can laugh off, but if the same joke came from a co worker who had said some shyt about minorities being lazy a couple weeks back youd be offended.

I'm not, but it seems like you're taking hearsay about one website and then using that as the norm in all situations, which is even worse. Besides, as someone who isn't a homophobe and so has gay friends and co-workers, I'm fine with assuming I know more about the norms of interacting with them than you do.
