Need to get rid of local government especially villages/towns/hamlets cities that overlap its extremely redundant. Then start working back towards the state government. You have no idea how much overlap and bullshyt bureaucracy there is.

I wonder if we could get rid of states?

I dunno man. I think local government and local communities are very important.

Nah, I'm cool. The term and concept has been used and argued for 2 and a half centuries. If you want to brand everyone who uses the term a racist that's on you.

People always point to the civil war and southern states using states' rights yet forgot that Northern states passed laws banning slavery before the Federal Government did. That is also states' rights.

That's what the majority of intelligent people see it as hate to break it to you.

When's the last time you were happy your state passed a major law that effected you?

:heh:

California environmental laws are way ahead of most other states breh. And many states have much stronger regulation of business than some other states. And MA had Obamacare long before the nation did. etc. etc.

You've never dealt with double taxation, along with the trifecta of state/county/federal waste.

You're just seeing it as bureaucracy. There's a social and almost spiritual need for there to be people in your town and state who are dedicated to that place. imagine if getting anything done in terms of laws, regulations or government changes or support needed you to go down and lobby washington DC? You don't think Mayors are important?

Crazy thing was while Atwater was devising ways with Reagan to hold the black man down he would be playing jazz with all the top musicians (bb king, isaac Hayes, Sam moore). Maybe that's why when he was on his death bed and satan was calling him home, he felt the need to apolozige for his sins:

Gravely Ill, Atwater Offers Apology - NYTimes.com

Bottom line is Lee Atwater was an evil man who used racism to win votes. It wasn't until he was about to die that he felt the need to repent for those sins. Thankfully these past elections taught us that the southern strategy is a relic to the past and no longer works. fukk that cac and all who support people like him
Seems like he was just a guy searching for power and reputation than being a racist, he developed a strategy to win, if he really was going out playing Jazz with black folks how PERSONALLY racist can he really be? I think there was a complete separation between his work duties and his personal life. It's probably not fun thinking about all the people you're purposefully fukking over to win an election. Or am I just being naive here?

I didn't think about it that way. I think you have a point especially in smaller communities as far as a connection and caring about a place. At the end of the day there are unfunded retirements and redundancies.

The thing is instead of going to Washington DC to get things accomplished they have to go to Albany which is just as bad as what you're implying.

Everything must be simplified and modernized. I have no issue with a Mayor or chamber of commerce. I have an issue when taxes are involved and services overlap. Everything could be handled at the county level
