I think this is a pretty normal reaction for a father, even one who doesn't particularly hate trans people. He had a son, he raised a son and he knew a son and then he's confronted by what is essentially a stranger in his eyes.

It's a disorder.

The bottom line is people should not be disrespected due to their condition.

At the same time, society shouldn't force people to normalize something this painful and treat it like something to be celebrated.
