1. THERE ARE DOCUMENTARIES
YOU CAN WATCH FROM THE PPL
WHO WERE ACTUALLY THERE AND
HELP CREATE IT.

2. WHAT DID THEY CONTRIBUTE
AT THE BEGINNING OF HIP HOP?

The Ricans that participated in hip hop were considered to be rebelling against their families at the time. It wasn’t always all kumbaya between blacks and ricans in NYC like people think. They participated but they didn’t help create shyt. Hip hop is a black American created art form that was participated in by caribbeans and Ricans.

Ricans were in the crews of some of the DJs who ran the parties. some were hypemen. Again this is from talking to my own family members who were old enough and went to these joints fam. That's as far as the " contribution" was from my people point of view.

Sidenote: My earliest memories of visiting in the early/mid 80s and hearing Ricans say nikka was weird as shyt for a me who grew up in the south. But it was an NYC thing.

I'm just goin by my own people's accounts who were there bruh. :hubie:

It definitely wasn't all kumbaya with all.of them of course but creating hip hop was definitely a cyse by Joe. That is for sure.
Definitely got a lot of side eyed :rudy: when I asked about creating it. My pops.is from Taft PJs in Harlem and used to go out to BX all the time too to jam and he got all militant when I asked did Ricans create hip hop. He knew a couple of dope Rucan graffiti artists back then tho he said were cool. Lol

So we are essentially saying the same thing. Ricans didn’t help create hip hop. They participated in something that we was already doing. So what’s the argument Brodie?

There isnt. There are many who think they weren't there at the beginning and that's not true from what I was told. There were Rican hypemen, taggers (graffiti), and of course (break)dancers as that became more popular. It was a cool thing to be a part of for the younger heads.

But the create 50/50 is 100% bullshyt. All my people's agreed on that. Lol

NO

THIS ALL STARTED BECAUSE JOE
SAID RICANS CREATED HIP HOP 50/50.
THE AWARDS SHOW WAS AFTER
THE FACT.

LMAO @Plankton DAPPING
THIS CAP.

Wrong.

Tariq became obsessed with Joe. Going at Joe for the 50/50 thing is one thing but once Tariq questioned Joe's position in Hip Hop it then went somewhere else that had nothing to do with the origin of Hip Hop. That's the part you are leaving out because you are team Tariq. The fact that Tariq was stuck on Fat Joe for over 2 years but then he's yucking it up with Snoop who helped usher in gang culture and still promotes gang culture (see Superbowl Half Time 2022 show for further proof) which is way more of a real problem in current Hip Hop over arguing about what ethnicity created Hip Hop, confirms to me that Tariq does not care about Hip Hop culture like you are trying to portray him to be doing.

I mean seriously, just look at how you are going to bat for Tariq in this very thread. You are one of those "Tariq can't do no wrong" posters. Your bias confirms you aren't objective at all.

They were is my point from cats who went to these parties and jams in the parks and shyt then. It was a Bronx thing

the Bronx is the most notable and recognized place where Hip Hop was cultivated, its not where it started, thats like saying Blues started in the Delta. there is some truth to it but one thing we know for sure is Black Americans started all that shyt.....coming out of slavery. who was the very first person to rap? I dont know but it was people before the 70's doing that shyt. who had the first breakthrough commercial hip hop record? Hip Hop just like every other popular genre of music was created by black americans. how do you think Jazz was created? Rock n Roll, Funk, etc....? now look at the hypocrisy....they tryin to discredit and alienate Beyonce for making a Country album yet Fat Joe out here hosting all types of black music/hip hop awards. if yall dont get all the way the fukk up outta here. do you hear Country music of today? its HIP HOP. even using out goddamn slang! got some nerve to say B cant make a record when we invented the shyt. there may have been one or two people here and there in the beginning, who knows, but they aint create shyt and damn sure not 50/50! if they did, it would have been a Puerto Rican Melle Mel, Caz, KRS ONE, Rakim, Sugar Hill, Kurtis Blow. how they create some shyt 50/50 but aint have no damn representatives??? literally wasnt shyt til Big Pun came along, especially Fat Joe.

another couple of points. I never get how people hate on not only Tariq (who doesnt have a criminal background that I know of) Elijah Muhammad, Minister Farrakhan, but worship Malcolm X. coli posters the worst with that shyt.

lastly, I tell people all the time, New York was the mecca, of not just hip hop but of trendsetting and originality. it was this same arrogance that was the undoing of NY Hip Hop, trying to block others from light and dissing everyone who tried to participate in hip hop, starting with the rise of the west coast, the hate was brutal. Midwest was getting blocked. then the clowing of the South and country folk, especially the way they talk, then when they started selling records and nikkas in NY wasnt moving no units they wanna hop on the bandwagon, even try and talk like country nikkas. disgusting.

NYC has to get the credit, but this narrative that just because someone was born and raised in the Bronx dont mean they are accurate in saying anyone beside black americans play as big a role as they did in inception. and Busta is my guy but that nikka said black americans didnt have culture and Jamaicans brought culture to us. is he fukkin for real? Bob Marley told nikkas they were covering R&B songs early on. where did dancehall come from? this damn re-writing of history aint gonna fly. Not on sosme of our watch. foh.
