Los Ingobernables de Sala de Cine
Just walked out of it. The first hour is really interesting and I really liked. It's all careful and seems very thought out and interesting. I love the relationship between Ben and reed I love that Johnny is rebelling against his dad and how Sue is the golden child yet seems to be very introverted. Even loved the stuff with victor and reed and just seeing them work together while victor is building this rivalry in his head. But once that one year later card hits, it all gets sloppy and unravels and just feels like a different film entirely. It's not nearly as bad as people would have you think but it's obvious there's at least 40 min of movie missing, maybe more. The last hour or hour and a half is just a different movie altogether and that really sucks.
While I agree the first half of the movie is probably the most interesting, you're overrating the hell out of it, breh. It plays it very careful, yes, except it plays way too careful and not nearly thought out at all since it takes them 45 minutes to set up the most basic relationships within the team (you mention Victor creating his rivalry and that's laughable to me because this 'rivalry' is literally him watching Reed and Sue giggle and being jelly as fukk over it), let alone that at the time the mission/accident happens, it's the first time that Ben has any interaction with the other team members, Sue not included. And again, it took them 45 minutes to get to this point. All we got was that Reed likes Sue, Victor is jelly (and oh yeah, like two off-hand comments about how he feels the world is falling apart in the most generic 'message board warrior' way possible), Johnny has literally nothing going on and just Ben feels this big science world is out of his grasp. It's the most basic, undeveloped elementary status of the team's relationship (I really can't emphasize that enough) and that's all that Trank managed to set up in forty-fukking-five minutes. That shyt was in desperate need of a couple of rewrites to tidy things up because it. was. slow. as. shyt.
And lol @ saying it's not nearly as bad as you'd think but "oh, there's like 40 minutes of movie missing and the entire second half is just incredibly sloppy and poorly made". You're letting that trademark level-headedness of yours get to your head McFly because you can't say half a movie doesn't work at all and act like "it's not nearly as bad as people would have you think".
