Purdy already went further in the playoffs at least.

Under the BEST case scenario. Kirk was put in really good positions, but he was never on an all star team with a proven offensive coach specifically designing an offense for him.

Both Purdy and Kirk are good, but they're not ever gonna live up to the contracts they get.

The White Dak Prescott.

They should have never signed him. You draft Penix. THEN you sign a Teddy Bridgewater-ish type QB that won't lose games but also doesn't cost too much $$$. The kind of experienced vet that is comfortable being #2 but can step in as #1.

Let Penix sit and learn from the vet his first year and then give him a full offseason and training camp to show he's ready.

Signing an aging QB for that kind of money is dumb unless you’re getting Tom Brady and have a team ready to win now.
But that's the issue. This team was supposed to be ready to win now

I watched Kirk in Washington and Minnesota. He has never looked this bad. I don't know if it's the injury or the Falcons system. But from the outside looking in I'm sure this wasn't the plan. The plan should have been 2 years of Cousins. Let Penix learn then start him in year 3

Kirk comes across as a good dude but the falcons giving him that contract coming off the injury he had was wild! Really bad decision all around. Now penix could be their answer but that money spent on Kirk was a waste. Giants with Daniel Jones the same. Paying out when it looked obvious to all it wasn't going to work out

It was a moronic decision from the jump. There are rumors that the GM wanted one QB and the owner wanted another, so that’s how we ended up with both Cousins and Penix.

The GM seems to be a colossal self absorbed idiot. To the point where Bill Belicheck felt offended even talking to the jackass. They need to clean house and the owner needs to let the football people run it and keep his ass in the owners box.

I have a feeling it's Arthur Blank that pushed for Cousins
No competent GM would've signed Cousins to that deal
That deal doesn't happen without a legit sign-off from ownership

Of course the ATL
Man relax. The contract was 4 years but only 2 were guaranteed. After next year that salary won't be on the cap

Relax? Mans got a $180M contract with $100M guaranteed and will carry a massive dead cap number. It was an unnecessary gamble for an aging QB coming off a significant injury not to mention we compounded the decision by drafting his replacement less than 45 days later.

This is what Falconing looks like

And where exactly are those QBs supposed to come from considering that other teams are looking for them themselves?

It was going to be a lose-lose situation regardless as there was always going to be pressure for Penix to start at some point based on his draft position.
But you save $$$$$$$

They paid Kirk to win the NFCS and take advantage of Bijan, Pitts, London etc....a brief window where the young skill guys are still on rookie deals.

If Kirk was 31 like Dak, I'd understand but dude is 35 or 36

It ain't a massive cap hit and everyone said the same about Denver. They were in a worse situation and 1 year later it's no longer bad they released Russ

It's crazy how you can age overnight in sports. He was pretty good to start the season. Then around week 10 completely fell off the cliff

THEY WERE JUST SPAMMING
THE PLAY ACTION
WITH AN IMMOBILE QB
COMING OFF AN ACHILLES TEAR.

ONCE TEAMS GOT FILM ON HIM
IT WAS OVER
