My comments have only been about that. All the other talk is irrelevant to me because that’s all that matters. At best he could save money when he is released, but the Falcons would still be accountable to that terrible contract and the contract should see the GM fired when they miss the playoffs.
That we agree on. They're lucky it's only a two year deal and not a Watson type situaton or it'd fukk them for the forseeable future.

I wonder if the 9ers would bush Purdy if he really wants 60 Milly and buy low on Cousins while trying to find someone cheap to groom.

It was a terrible signing from the beginning.

They should've just ridden with their rookie QB at least this way if they suck; it'd been a justifiable season since, y'know it's a rookie quarterback at the helm. People would've understood why they were ass.

I thought it was super bizarre to have even signed him to such a ludicrous contract. IIRC was there this huge rush for teams to even sign Kirk Cousins? Especially after drafting Penix. You could have gotten comparable stats from a Teddy Bridgewater or even Ryan Tanehell and it would have cost you a veterans minimum. Hell you could have just started Penix from the beginning.
Problem is the signing of Cousins happened over a month before the draft. The GM had no plan in place which is inexcusable. They knew where they were dressing when free agency started. They should have either went the rookie QB route and targeted a vet bridge QB to mentor and used the cap space to sign players or decided to go the 'win now' with a established QB. I think with the latter, most on here thought Fields or Russ was a better option than Cousins and the salary he'd command.
The GM's only hope is that Penix is a star that covers the blunder of signing Cousins kind of like how drafting Purdy covered the mistake of Trey Lance

Of course the ATL
So y'all will a new offensive coach with a hopefully capable QB on a rookie contract

Boo hoo

Breh what are you on? :dwillhuh:

This is a thread about Kirk Cousins and you’re in here whining about Dallas and Dak. Respectfully no one gives a fukk. The Falcons have mismanaged this situation, I repeat this is mismanagement. This isn’t a franchise that “smartened up” in making this decision. It was literally so bad that they had no other choice. IDK why you’re not getting that

Eh… from my understanding, they didn’t expect Penix to fall to them. The Patriots, Titans, and Giants were all ahead of them in the draft, and all needed a quarterback. Otherwise, they likely would have signed a quarterback to bridge the gap or planned to start Penix from day one hindsight is 20/20. So, I wouldn’t put too much fault on the GM. Luckily, the way Cousins’ contract is structured, they can get out of it after year 2.

It's crazy how you can age overnight in sports. He was pretty good to start the season. Then around week 10 completely fell off the cliff

It was essentially only a two year deal as he was never going to see those last two years.

Where they fukked up at was giving him the no trade clause off the ACL injury as there was always the potential that it would go bad and him not be his previous self again. They screwed themselves in the process.

*achilles injury

Yea, they were 6-3 and beat Tampa twice and basically in the driver’s seat to win the division, to now Cousins being cut, what a turn of events :mjlol:

True but man bis arm dead. Overnight went from having a respectful 92 mph fastball to 87 mph

It's not his really arm it's the Achilles, he doesn't generate much power from his lower half now. So yeah he may have been using more shoulder/arm to compensate and now it's shot. That injury is still pretty much the final nail in careers, it was crazy to give him that contract
