I used to be a satellite technician for a company called Mastec. I saw and dealt with so many f^ckery in this business. There are so many technicians that don't give a damn about the customers.
I am talking about greedy technicians that will try to scam a customer to pay for something that was already covered in the basic installations; for example, if you don't have cable wires in the rooms where you want televison, the technicians isn't supposed to charge you unless you want the technician to wall fish the cable wires between the walls which is consider as custom labor. The company had received some reports of complants filed by DirecTv's customers that they were charged by technicians over 200+ dollars just to hook up a single wire and those naive customers actually paid them
The company used to charged customers 60 bucks for a wall fish, but techs who were money hungry would charged the customers who look like they have money to spend would charged a 100 dollars or more for a wall fish
Moreover, some techs convinced the customers to write the check under their small business's name and closed the job under a different name so they won't get caught.
The price was too steep for many customers to paid for customer labors, so the company decided to reduced the customer labor cost to avoid customers from cancelling their service with DirecTv.
One of the f$ck up things I dealt with as a satellite technician was chargeback fines that cost 28 dollar for each service calls. DirecTv give customers warranties on their services. The warranties will last up to 60 days. If a technician have to come behind me to fix a simple problem like replacing the box because it has manufacture defect, Mastec will deduct $28 from my pay check to pay the service tech
Man, there is so much sh&t that is going in the cable industry but I don't feel like typing this stuff because it would take too much of my time.
