Haven't seen most of his movies. And the ones I did see him in, he was more in supporting roles. I know him by name now though, thanks. :troll:

well he is in the next x-men and star wars films..so you will know it.. his name is his name!

The ending was a downer at first, but when u think about its rly just a testament to how much she was able to fool not only Caleb with her humane qualities, but the viewer as well :wow:. Like some ppl have mentioned, why would she actually be expected to care for another human life? The only other person shes ever met treated her like complete shyt. All shes ever known is hate and feelings of begrudging. It makes total sense that she wouldnt give a shyt about that nikka Caleb rottin in the house. Thats how humans work, evilness/goodness is relative to each individual and is (at least partially) nurtured.

Enjoyed the movie, thought it was dope and the ending caught me off guard. My issue was I'm not understanding how kyoko was convinced to do what she did and her actual relevance through out the film in this context.

well she was programmed to obey nathan's command but i guess deep down a part of her must have resented him. perhaps that brief moment when ava whispers in her air awoke something in her that caused her to "evolve" beyond her programming.

:russ: I hope not cause that's some sh1tty writing. I read some theories about it but nothing really seems quite right.

Uve never heard of ppl finally standing up or rebelling agaisnt their masters/opressors? When u stop thinkin of the AIs in the movie as jus robots but actual AIs(meaning built with human consciousness and emotional capacity) all their motives and actions make sense :manny:

She wasnt programmed to obey him. He jus made her do it. Cant u see she was like depressed thruout the whole movie?

Think its a stretch and bad writing is true...she had plenty of chances to show her rebellion and didn't, and a quick conversation turns her completely ...robot showed nothing else ever...if this was plausible the movie did a bad job of making it understood.

Movie was cool, a lot of holes like others mentioned. I liked the overall vibe and pacing tho, and Oscar Isaac is the future. He's killed every role he's done

not only that but ai to ai communication

think about it

that was ava's first time meeting another AI. you can bet she came off a lot different than the humans she encountered in her life so far :usure:

kyoko and ava probably had a longer conversation and felt more empathy in that one instant than any of the human bullshyt that went on in the entire movie. and that poor white boy wonders why he lost :mjpls:

I consider myself among the more informed and in touch fans of movies, not on this board, just in general. Yet embarrassingly enough, I slept on 'Ex Machina', until last night. It had been playing in the indie theater by me for weeks, and I finally read up on it, and after some positive reviews from a diverse crowd in my own life, I saw it. Beautifully directed, scored, written movie. Among the best of the year, if not near the top. I loved Oscar Issac's performance from his opening lines, and into his descent/reveal into depravity. Brilliant movie, was amazed at the questions it asked, themes it explored. Technology, innovation, human nature to be cruel as well as kind, manipulation, seduction, the nature of attraction, men vs. women, feminism, misogony... loved the movie. I also attempt to style my house the same way, minimalistic, obviously not nearly as ornate, but the same kind of furniture and aesthetic is what I try for, so the set design was incredible to me too.

*Oscar Issacs 'tearing up the dance floor bro' and the following scene
* Both of the knife scenes
*The cinematography on the waterfall
*The lines 'You seem a little fukked up....' and the following ones were hilariously dark, though my audience seemed to under appreciate the comedic aspects of Nathan's character

man someone @ me, if I am fukking up like this again.
