It's crazy the album is trending on twitter but this thread is quiet :jbhmm:
There's always very little discussion about his music on here and probably online generally. I think a lot of his fans don't post much online generally. It seems like a mix of true school hip-hop heads that are like late 20's/early 30's, hipster music fans, and then a lot of surprisingly attractive females.

Honestly his rap style in some way reminds me of Rapsody. I know that sounds crazy but bear with me. Their voices and flows are different but both of them have like a jab-heavy style. They have a lot of little clever lines throughout verses, not a lot of huge punchlines. If they were fighters they would be the type to throw a lot of little flurries with an uppercut every now and then, but they don't do a lot of set ups for a heavy cross or overhand.

There's also a fair amount of coded shyt in his lines. He's just not the type of rapper like Jadakiss or something where you can post all these smack you in the face punchlines with a clever smiley after it.

:manny:

EDIT: Also, it's very possible that he's lost some fans for not releasing an album in 6 years. I bet there's definitely some people that were checking for him a few years ago that either forgot about him or unfollowed him and aren't in the loop anymore. I thought he retired in 2015 and assumed he was never going to release another album. The fact that he still has a solid fan base without releasing a solo project in over half a decade is pretty impressive IMO.

I was hoping to purchase this today but I gotta wait until next week now

Been seeing a lot of praise on Twitter for this album...from what I’ve heard so far the album sounds like it’s an AOTY contender

Honestly, January albums always suffer when it comes time for AOTY. Albums dropping later in the year have more of an impact IMO.

I think it could easily be a top 3 AOTY but we;ll see what else drops this year. If Bandana by Gibbs and Madlib drops this year, that's my prediction for AOTY.

I'm really digging Weather or Not though. I see why he's saying it is more like a playlist or a greatest hits collection than an album. But song for song, this is some of his best work for sure.

I think astrology is bullshyt, but me and Ev have the same birthday, and it is sort of weird because a lot of his raps are exactly how I feel and think about certain things.

I'm getting a real "fukk you leave me alone I like doing my own thing and not being bothered" type of vibe from this album.

Also a lot of "the day is what you make it because we aren't promised tomorrow" type shyt.

Bandana is an album I’m anticipating to be a contender, maybe Schoolboy Q if he drops...Hall & Nash 2 also but that’s about it

Edit: RR 2 also can’t forget that

Based on the response on twitter it seems like a lot of his core fans are outside of the US which makes sense since he seems to tour a lot.

I can definitely see the Rapsody comparison. That makes a lot of sense
