As a finishing school, they're cool.
As a development from scratch territory, they're not up to par at all.
Not up to par compared to who?
How have they failed?
Tyler Breeze dope promo, dope gimmick that was Rick Martel/Shawn Michaels hybrid. And he can work his ass off.
He got called up and got shyt! That wasn’t on NXT god. There was no explanation of his character, no vignettes, no funny segments or catch phrases to set the tone. They just threw him out there in a one bullshyt feud and hurried him.
HE WAS CLEARLY READY... COULD BEEN SELLING SELFIE STICKS OUT THE ASS.
American Alpha has a great thing going... THEY WERE CLEARLY READY... you had a 2 Kurt Angle/Steiner Bros. Who put on great matches. Played off each other well... GOT CALLED UP, GOT THE BELTS AND THEN WERE OFF TV FOR TWO MONTHS!!!!!
They were clearly ready...
Who has NXT failed? Bayley? She had superstar for kids written all over her. They should given Bayley her own Nick Jr. mock interview show like Miz TV, where she wasn’t even aware how much of a dweeb she was. She shoulda been hugging the whole roster at the most random moments in segments where you didn’t expect her. It was easy as hell.
Sasha had Urban Crossover appeal written all over her. She shoulda been on the Breakfast Club arguing with Angela Yee (a work ofcourse) her whole character was Love and Hip Hop in Wrestling. Her debut should have been a HYPED thing, her debut shoulda been like her Takeover entrance. Bodyguards, fireworks etc.
They put no time into character work. That’s not NXT, NXT greatest great characters.
Authors of Pain were powerful and mysterious... They take their cool looking Mask and PAUL ELLERING AWAY. AND WHEN THEY FAIL WE BLAME NXT!?!?!?
AOP was supposed to have a dope vignette with an Ellering voice over showing his legacy with the Road Warriors etc. then he says they are the new version of that or some shyt. GIVE THEM AN INTRO AND GIVE THE AUDIENCE CONTEXT FOR WHAT THEY ARE SEEING. ITS COMMON SENSE.
It’s not a matter of NXT homegrown gimmicks failing to get over on the big stage.
NOTHING GETS OVER ANYMORE.
