I didn't cry when Prince died...but I will cry when Gucci die
I used to dj a little back in the day, and Erotic City was my secret weapon. I would put that on and chicks would lose their damn minds . My wife gets all when she hears it. That song just oozes sex.Minneapolis born in raised, My older sister was in one of his videos in 97', my pops played on Prince's rec league bball team, my moms went to high school with him.
Everyone has their own attachment to Prince.
Some more than others.

If a nikkas says "Erotic City" is one of their favorite Prince songs than I automatically know they are a true fan
That cat was relevant though. STILL winning Grammys and shyt. This what happens when legends that haven't been relevant for a long time die.
People come out the woodwork, but it's because that persons music was a part their lives at one point.
I remember threads on here with heated arguments about whether he was a faq or not ...If they actually become a prince fan after I say it's a win, a lot people didn't fukk with prince cause they though he was weird or based his music off of purple rain. You really have to listen to each album to get appreciation for his musical genius. If people see that then that is win for prince. Even the super fans on prince.org had their problems with prince. He made "no more candy 4u" for his legion of critical super fans. ( or so they say)
How do you know it's fake? That's that fake love!
I used to listen to some of Prince's music as a kid, but I never fronted like I was a big fan.
When he passed I was shocked because he was so young and he was a musical genius, so I just gave my RIP and kept it moving.
Why do people feel the need to pretend like they were big ass fans of someone as soon as they DIE?
My facebook is full of a bunch of muthafukkers with crocodile tears, when i went 365 without someone talking about Prince
Hmmm. Prince is VERY popular and an important artist in black culture. At least here in the mid south he is so they may be genuine. He is a big deal as artist/musician and considered our last genius artist. Where are you from? Why do people feel the need to pretend like they were big ass fans of someone as soon as they DIE?

Personally, I will sit and relish in the fact that I was like 4 or 5 yo (highly impressionable) when I was introduced to this petite, little, quasi-androgynous dude who, in one fell swoop, made a dime like Apollonia truly intimidated sexually while killing his rival and seducing others in the audience with rhythms and persona. Didn't fully understand it all but I knew that he was "that dude."
I still don't understand how this is possible.
I mean yea he has fame and talent and shyt but lots of dudes with fame and talent can't do what Prince did, women-wise.
