not even gonna lie.

so is music but when theres plenty of us in here scratching our heads saying why doesn't the greatest rapper of his generation not have a single quotable bar we instantly associate with him when we think of him ? the only replies are random catchphrases from songs and people trying to downplay the value in having quotables..it's quite telling.

Scarface and Andre were mentioned as people that might be in the same boat as Kendrick but i still think of Face's opening bars on Mind Playing Tricks or with Andre i think of "more fans than the average man but.." part of Elevators..with Kendrick i got nothing but gun sounds or parts of hooks.

it doesn't diminish what he's achieved or his body work as an artist but theres a disconnect.

anyway...

very few rappers have universal quotables that are instantly associated with them, or at least in the sense that it matters.

I actually think the 3000 comparison is really on point. does 3k have quotables that everybody knows or can be instantly attached to him?

if the elevator verse counts, is "if I told you that a flower bloomed in a dark room, would you trust it?" a quotable?

They didnt just know lyrics he had the whole crowd perform the ENTIRE song breh. And "chef curry" is a quotable? I could go outside right now and yell "I remember syrup sandwhiches and crime allowances" and somebody would finish the verse. But since you keep mentioning drake whats the point of having "quotables" if it was written by another nikka?

We also found out that Atlantic & Interscope were using Bruno Mars & Skylar Grey respectively to write songs and give them to artists. i.e. Airplanes and Nothing on you. So the industry been on this wave for the past 7 years.
