Facts social media is the main culprit.
No it isn't, but it plays a role. Capitalism (which created social media) is the main culprit to say otherwise is silly

Eliminating social media tomorrow isn't going to change anything. People are still going to be insanely depressed

the internet
Too much work, not enough time to enjoy/express yourself outside of it
people probably work less than any other time in life.

we have too many distractions...
social media
comparing yourself to others

in some respects life is too easy and folks have time to think about nothing.

this thread is proof we have it easy.
because people of today dont respect how tough life used to be...
but will sit under air conditioner while using a $800 phone and complain about being burned out.

eat bad food
dont work out
waste your disposable income on nonsense

people prior to us didnt have the option to do any of that...
they ate what they could get...
walked everywhere or worked manual labor

Have you ever stopped to think that most peoples lives involve a screen for at least 81% of their uptime?

Really consider it and compare it to the 90s or earlier. What do you think the implications could be of such a squarely mediated life that is almost totally detached from reality?

Then there is this:

All of this to ensure you never realize the true nature of the game you're playing.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Imagine 10 years ago you’re making $14 - $16 an hour and you have dreams of making $60,000 - $70,000 a year. You making that in 2023, but rent has doubled, you’re in debt and you’re working more hours. Basically living check to check.

Then you have a ton of people who have never left their state, county and in some cases, city limits. Ever.

Lastly, a lot of people are living on credit. Credit cards, loans, financing or leasing shyt.

Inequality was always around. Social media just put all your shortcomings in your face at all times. Everything is so fake and perfect there compared to a person real life especially for people who can’t unplug and know that it’s fake.

Correct you're proving my point here :heh: Getting rid of social media isn't going to just stop depression and it's silly to suggest otherwise. Having access to education about the ills of the world is in fact a good thing. Burying ur head in the sand about it is some religious shyt.

Social media is simply a symptom of capitalism.

USA today write something about "internalized capitalism" last year. This is just one of the many ways in which capitalism contributes to our awful mental health here.

EVERYONE now understands the RAT RACE GAME and that they’re been LIED TOO.

“You scrape and you save, you work yourselves half to deaths AND STILL you CAN’T afford what you REALLY WANT. You have to face the philosophy that Life sucks and then you DIE!!!!”

That’s why I started saluting the dope selling nikkas. Damn near gotta do some illegal shyt if you want anything these days…… I went in Trader Joe’s yesterday and they have raised the price on ground turkey from 3.79 to 4.49 with a WEEK! Seriously wtf is going on there is no need for prices to still be going up! :francis:

Lots of people working too much and barely getting by. Then getting on IG and watching others live lives they know they can never attain. Add on top of that the generally unhealthy lifestyles of being sedentary/not physically active. Add on top of that, loneliness being and epidemic. Lots of people lack close friends in real life. Yeah, I can see it
