Every now and then someone says Madvillainy was a classic. That album had no impact.

I’ve always loved Operation Doomsday and MM FOOD a lot more, but I would never say that “Madvillainy” wasn’t a classic.

It touched a LOT of people and they still regard it with reverence to this day. I have nothing but respect for everybody involved.

I’m from the South and I’d be lying if I ever heard anyone speak of or listen to his music out here outside the Internet. Based off the replies I am aware I’m setting myself up for scrutiny but I’m just going off the music presence where I am from.

This is a cult classic and I don't mean that in a negative way, but the average rap listener today may not even know this project exists

Idgaf if it’s a classic or not, it’s greatness :wow: had to make it the first vinyl I bought for my collection.

I didn't say the whole world was anticipating it, just underground rap circles. Same way Roc Marciano's Reloaded was seen as a classic upon release

Very few artists have the whole world anticipating them or even all of America. The hood didn't give af about My Chemical Romance, doesn't mean they weren't a huge band in the 2000's. MF Doom is one of the first artists you discover if you were a hip-hop fan in the 2000s and wanted something besides the most mainstream acts like Jay-Z, G-Unit, Kanye, T.I., Weezy, etc.

MF Doom is meh to me and I feel he's a bit overrated.

Without the production, he's just average, and even then it still doesn't cut it. His style is too weird.
