Every now and then someone says Madvillainy was a classic. That album had no impact.

I revisited that album over the summer and it wasn't as good as I remembered it :lupe:
Found myself skipping mad songs
I think MMMFood aged better

edit: see mad ppl saying the album influenced modern underground rap. can yall be specific?
What modern albums or songs can be linked to that sound?
outside of viral marketing i'm not really seeing the impact mfdoom had on modern rap.
what current rappers carrying the same subtle sampling technique or monotone deadpan punchlines as doom. his sound STILL seems pretty unique to me

his career is the equivalent of an NBA player averaging 8 points over 15 years

You can't compare Madvillainy to traditional, mainstream rap albums. They're not operating on the same battlefield. Madvillainy is a 22 song album with no hooks or choruses. That's never gonna get played in the radio or shown on whatever music video stations we had back then at that point. Females aren't rocking with that at all.

And yet, the album is a classic. :yeshrug:
