Nah they can save those type games for NBA TV you can't put ratings poison like that on a Friday night. They gotta come up with a way maneuver games they jerked the Wiz and Celtics out of spot for some chump game. You right about the west coast teams being weaker than ever so gonna get some dogs. Can't see why TNT couldn't have a 7pm-9:30pm double header Thursday they could've flipped a Cavs/Pistons or Clippers/Grizzlies on with the Spurs/Thunder and done a doubleheader.
Except NBA TV doesn't send their own crews to do games. They just air local feeds (when TNT airs games and even ESPN sometimes, the local channels more often than not don't broadcast their own feed, so if a game got flexed out for some reason, if that game wasn't getting aired locally, it's gonna get blacked out, which is awful.)

Also, nobody complained when the Wizards got a low number of national games this season. Why? Because nobody wanted to watch the Wizards.

TNT in all reality would rather start their games at 8 for ratings purposes as well as not pushing central start times back an hour to 90 minutes past when it should start. The league doesn't like starting games that late because locally it ends way later than they want it to.

nba badly needs flex scheduling, why is the pacers and hornets being shown and not spurs and rockets being moved to 8pm
I swear y'all don't know how difficult it is to flex games in the NBA when networks don't work in conjunction with each other the way they do in football. It's easier to divvy up among 3 channels who were gonna air all those games anyway. A different beast when you deal with 30 different networks. Flex scheduling for NBC is done 10 days in advance, meanwhile everyone complained about why Rockets /Pelicans wasn't on 3 days after Cousins was traded, like y'all were fiending for that game regardless.

I read similar protections about ESPN elsewhere. And long ago.

But I had to laugh at the author of this piece saying ESPN was losing 3 million subscribers per year...then proceeded to show the subscribers through 2021.

We can subtract you twerp

Espn needs to cut ties with cable providers and turn the watchespn app into the sports version of Netflix

Make espn a standalone app that you pay for directly instead of needing a cable subscription

Its really the only smart play they have left

Firing everybody to save money just makes your product weaker which will drive away even more subscribers
cant. they are contractually obligated for several years to not be able to offer standalone product,. their channel has to be part of bundles. also, in order to recoup what they pay in sports rights while missing out on the millions who subsidize espn and dont even watch, they would have to charge folks like 40 bucks a month for make an espn only app/subscription breakeven. who is paying that for espn only?

If it ain't College Football season than I ain't really watching the ESPN Networks like that (besides the NBA Finals on ABC).

Even with CFB on ESPN, they've lost some big rivalries like Oklahoma-Texas and Bedlam and Ohio State-Michigan is gonna be on FOX this year as well.

They been missing out on Pac 12 games too vs Fox they better hope the ACC keeps balling because that's the one conference I think that free from any other networks jerking games from them.

Them CBB games probably do nothing as far as ratings go

I saw that Clippers/Bulls did lowest rating in 10 years Saturday night on ABC :banderas:
