Sources: ESPN Poised to Potentially Lay Off Hundreds

Round 3 of layoffs coming as I expected. If the Disney parks were having to do layoffs in order to save money, then eventually was going to have to as well.

A lot of those talents took a 3-4 month paycut to help save their job and will still lose it in the end. If I already took one paycut to help save money, then I'd be rather hesitant to do it again which they will supposedly ask some talents to do. I'd point them right in the direction of Michelle Beadle as she's still getting paid $5 million a year to do nothing

Unfortunately though , there isn't anywhere else to go right now so they will likely have no other choice but to go along with it.

The man just got a new contract this year so I doubt that happens. You don't think he's actually smart?

Getting a new contract doesn't necessarily make you immune from getting laid off. Actually during the last round of layoffs, some of those personalities had recently signed new deals 1-2 years prior and/or still had years left on their deal. That's actually why you haven't seen Jaws since he got laid off.

Bomani keeps getting extensions...I'm sure he wouldn't really mind if he did get laid off because they just paid him so he'd be getting free money to pursue a better situation. Jemele Hill got paid to go away and she's doing even more now than she did at ESPN.

Unfortunately for a lot of people in the sports world that has/will be laid off, there isn't a better situation out there right now as everyone is and will be doing job cuts. The money lost from COVID-19 is money that these companies won't be able to get back and no clear direction of when things will be back to normal. Disney just doesn't have the cash flowing in right now and I'm sure those Marvel TV shows aren't cheap to produce for what they are charging for Disney +.

I sense a price hike coming earlier than they initially planned. All of these subscription services are going to end up with a price hike to help offset COVID losses.

Jemele's doing more now than she did at ESPN, but I'm pretty sure she's making less money overall. She knew it when she made the decision to leave and was totally okay with it or else she would have stayed. She had options that a lot of other sports personalities don't have.

Nah LeBatard needs to go . Bo has been compromised but he still gives the most nuanced takes on “black issues.”

LeBatard on the other hand is so far gone from what he used to be that it’s time for him to go . He’s BEEN overdue .

And Key and Jay shoulda NEVER happened but I’m not gonna advocate for those black men to lose their jobs ... but that show and their attempt to hold down a 4 hour Morning spot is/was a failure from the jump. They ain’t it . At all.

Is the show not doing well?

The question no one ever asks in our country.

They will end up having to take a paycut as well. They are at the mercy of Disney and whatever they say to do. I’d be rather pissed though if they come asking to do another paycut after the 3-4 month pay they already had to give up earlier this year.

The worst part about it is that none of them can say no to it as there’s no where else to go at the same rate of pay right now.
