melo is a hard headed dude. never had a major injury other than his pride. if he could get committed to defense and hustle he wouldn't sitting at home wondering where his next job will be. it's not about money to him anymore, but what his legacy will be. vince carter reinvented himself and is still highly respected, melo needs to take a page from that book.

You’re better off shooting 33% from deep than 40% from mid range :manny:. If you’re still designing your offense around that shot in 2018, you’re getting left behind.
If people really want to know what happens when you hunt midrange shots instead of 3’s like everyone else the Spurs are literally today’s example of why that doesn’t work. Which is kinda crazy because the Spurs are basically the team that started the move towards the free flowing offense.

In part, the roster we have doesn't allow us to run the kind of offense we ran in 2014.

No it's not :mindblown:

You always go with the higher percentage shot, that's common sense basketball.
The three pointer is more efficient than the midrange shot.

Why shoot an 18 foot midrange shot worth two points when you can shoot a 22 foot shot worth three points? Not to mention that the three pointers spaces the floor and stretches the defense out further which creates driving lanes and more efficient offense. It's not an opinion, the three pointer being more efficient is a fact.

But with that being said you still need an in between game, you still need the ability to play in the post and hit midrange shots especially when things get tough in the halfcourt in the playoffs to be successful. This part of the game will always be around no matter what analytics nerds say.

This article is fukking trash.

The Melo thing isn't that deep, the man is 34 years old, he's been in the league for 16 seasons now. His lateral quickness and knees are shot he can no longer jump or finish at the rim. A young to prime Carmelo Anthony would be a dynamic player in this league. It's not about this B.S. about the game passing him by or him refusing to adjust, Melo has been a high volume three point shooter since '13 and the last two seasons he's taken threes at a career high rate and been relegated to being a C&S guy.

LeBron and Harden have the ball in their hands more than 90% of the PGs in the league. The difinition of the ball hog.

Thats the NEW definition. It used to be strictly for players who put up a lot of shots and don't pass. Ya'll decided to change it to "player that brings the ball up the floor that I don't like"...

fukking stupid. They're really trying to diminish the mid range jumpshot, which is a easier & higher percentage shot than a fukking 3.

I can't stand this analytical bullshyt in basketball

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried, and unfortunately, there are a lot of folks who have the same thinking; it's one of the main reasons why we can't have proper discussions on this board.

Quoted for emphasis.

And yet muh'fukkas wanna argue against the Spurs being left behind.

Bully Melo is a thing of the past. It was great when Bully Melo got it going. Hes not strong like that anymore.
