from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
The man that beat Errol Spence said it. Since he beat him convincingly, I believe him. :heh:
And the main reason he was beat so convincingly is because they stalled the fight out for too many years waiting on nikkas hiding behind politics and imaginary sidee of the street.. so what you end up with is a diminished product. A one sided ass whooping.. It's a shame nobody learned from May vs Pac.. we wouldn't have gotten a glorified sparring match had they fought years earlier regardless of who was at fault

PBC already had a chance to make it happen on fox and showtime and they failed. They got too many out of touch old heads to compete. Don't see how a change of networks will change that. The problem wasn't the broadcasters, it was the horrible matchmaking. Flat out. They got greedy. Protected all their talent instead of making them face eachother. Which is how you make stars. If you actually look at their entire run, probably over 80% of their cards were weak as hell. The Shawn porters vs Keith Thurman type fights were a very rare occurrence. They just flat out shyt the bed and people gotta admit it now.
Showtime bowing out of sports has nothing to do with PBC

I said before Boxing is a casualty of the changing media landscape. Boxing is not that important in the grand scheme of the media world so to think this is happening due to match making shows how disconnected dudes are lol.

Media companies are bleeding money right now because they don't have a model that makes sense when it comes to producing or licensing content + running their own steaming apps due to the decline of traditional cable.

Boxing across the board will have to pivot to a new business model or we will be having this same convo when TRs contract ends because Disney is hurting right now.

The promoters are gonna be forced to work together or share a platform whether they like it or not. Or someone is gonna merge/get bought out

ESPN or Amazon if they go to dazn they gone charge 500 a year for the app plus ppvs with no visibility. Imagine Top Rank Fridays and PBC saturdays on ESPN. Especially during the times of no Football. You could basically run it like a pro sport from February to September with Mexican Independence being the Super Bowl.

i was literally the first person in this section to call this shyt out...called it out when showtime went to crap in 2014 which was pre-pbc and pbc within a year of its launch...it was bizarro world to see nikkas excited over shyt like danny garcia vs robert guerrero :heh:

Exactly. NBA, MLB, and NFL are a pain for these companies to maintain but they know they are dead without it , boxing not so much lol.

Boxing is entering the phase the Rap industry did when it went fro everyone getting crazy budgets before 2000 to everything running on super thin budgets unless you are Drake, and the onus being on the artist to handle everything and if you go viral then you get some love lol.

DAZN got Saudi backers right? Only way I can see them seriously in the mix is if they through a bag that doesn't make sense which allows PBC to buy themselves time for the new media landscape to settle.

Bingo. You CANNOT keep paying these exhorbant purses (and fukk Dana cheep ass) for dudes to fight once every 18 months. But the sponsors need a return on investment with a consistent competitive product with either prospects or high level stars.

NBA/NFL and MLB are cash cows due to a consistent high product out. Wouldn't shock me if Golden Boy/Matchroom merge and then Top Rank and PBC start working together.

The sleeper here would be YouTube. They got fukk you money like Amazon.

I know all those dudes have been sitting on the sideline waiting for payday is going to get that shock of the lifetime not that they might not get no network to fight on. I'm talking to you Keith Thurman.

Like... Cuh really about to sit here and disregard years of PBC playing politics thinking that one year would save them. And not to mention, their fighters haven't performed well in these cross promotions.

Folks can hate on Arum all they want but he was the smartest man of the bunch to stick himself with ESPN.

Always has one home, 1 place for his product and for the most part his top guys get A-level or close opponents.

I honestly feel this why Mell Charlo took this fight lol this damn near was his last pay day, and with this spence vs bud rematch I wouldn't be shocked if thats why the December date was originally baked in (even though we know they won't make it).

The new gen besides Tank simply don't have it and will probably have to start fighting a min 3 times a yr under the name frame works and just make up their bag outside of boxing like Ryan garcia. I think it will light a fire to them to actually become brands cause most of these dudes have zero personality and that only works if you are a KO artist or something

Haymon checks (and I don't hate PBC) made dudes lazy and complacent.

I think a lot of guys are going to want to flock to Bob simply because they're going to look at ESPN as a stable product to be on

its the gift and the curse. Its easy to say athletes should run the show but athletes don't know shyt about business, the same way when business has too much say the "art" gets compromised.

The other sports are in a league which at least opens the doors for order. If the sanctioning bodies became Leagues and aligned themselves with a promoter and or network and had periodic tournaments where the champs come together for see an undisputed champ every once in a while that would be the closest thing to normal we could see (treat the undisputed tourney like an every 2-3 yr mega event).

Boxing if im not mistaken the only sport where dudes are getting multi millions to perform 1-2 times a yr lol
