Not just that, but I think a lot of boxers have dreams of being floyd coming up, so they protect their record, become a brand, make money motivated decisions.the best fought the best this year and still didn't do record numbers, thats an excuse.
The point is the old Boxing model does not work in the current or even future world of media consumption. Media companies can't even figure out how to keep the books black let alone green. Boxing is simply a causality

They'll have to give that dream up going forward and leave money on the table if the sport will advance. The PPV model is hanging by a thread, boxing will at some point need to choose between maximum profit and maximum viewers.
These behemoth companies washing their hands off these institutions sucks so much.
Showtime dying a slow death is awful to watch.
If all things were perfect PBC would go to ESPN but that's not happening.
If we can get weekly/bi weekly cards and Quarterly PPVs loaded top to bottom I would be fine honestly.
Would be god-like.
Problem is no one would want to go on ESPN 2 because you have the UFC cards as well and you would literally have the schedule completely packed.
as did i..HBO provided the formula and still no one could emulate it to any great degree...they had classic 24/7 eps and face offsI still liked HBO 24/7 better
they tried that..that shyt lasted like a year..the offerings were not greatIf all things were perfect PBC would go to ESPN but that's not happening.
PBC already had a chance to make it happen on fox and showtime and they failed. They got too many out of touch old heads to compete. Don't see how a change of networks will change that. The problem wasn't the broadcasters, it was the horrible matchmaking. Flat out. They got greedy. Protected all their talent instead of making them face eachother. Which is how you make stars. If you actually look at their entire run, probably over 80% of their cards were weak as hell. The Shawn porters vs Keith Thurman type fights were a very rare occurrence. They just flat out shyt the bed and people gotta admit it now.I more so meant for PBC + Amazon. I think they could have a model to give UFC a run. Amazon has enough product lines to get boxers pushing Alexa bullshyt too lmfao.
Being a boxing fan is complicated as hell thats why I think 1-2 "Mega" PPVs per quarter creates situations where everyone will put the effort to go or pay, and then the weekly/bi weekly cards keep us fed + you can use it for story telling for the upcoming Mega PPVS.
pretty much take the Wrestling approach making PPVs cultural events rather than a one off. I feel the weekly shows they can just do arena deals in each region (NSEW) and then the PPVs can be Vegas + special locations.
