:salute: this thread....

1. I see you have addressed some of Selassie questions but what was life like (from what you have heard) during his reign? His UN speeches are just :wow:
I heard his cats ate from golden plates while the people starved. How much of that is truth

2. Why no love for the fellow East Africans on the coli :to: (Kenyans, Tanzanians, Ugandans, etc) I know we darker than yall but this :mjpls: aint right

3. As far as cuisine, that coffee is just :whoo::whoo:

lol, your screenname was the nickname the Rastas gave my brother in prison. That and "Selassie son" :heh:

1. Depends on who you were and what tribe you were in, Amharas love him, Tigrays kinda like him(if they aren't Eritrean, Eri's HATE Selassie), and everyone else was indifferent or had a major gripe with him. My family ate good during those days because they owned land and property and tribally they are mixed but are mostly Amhara like Selassie was, the men on my father's side were guerilla fighters during the Italian occupation so Selassie gave them land, my grandfather was able to open a school from that. My mom is real nostalgic of those times she speaks glowingly of him. She went to a mission school with African American teachers, African American culture was prevalent in the capitol also, people were jammin to Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, etc, our money was worth more so things were way cheaper before Selassie was overthrown. The rural community(which is the majority) was fukked up on the other hand, and yeah his lions ate great compared to most of the rural people I dunno if they ate off gold plates but it wouldn't surprise me cuz he loved his lions. It's sad, by the time of his end he had become more image than substance. Things started out great but he didn't move with the times quick enough, he didn't recognize Eritrea which brought him conflict, and the intrigues of Imperial court stalled him from bringing needed reforms. He was in a bad place, but when he was overthrown and assassinated he was replaced by a paranoid sociopathic killer that littered the streets with dead bodies and bullets. bytch ass nikka took all the land and almost all the property my family gained from their hard work and service to H.I.M. and he just chillin in Harare in retirement he lucky somebody don't scope him for slaughtering all those civilians and turning our reputation into a bunch of pathetic, famine stricken individuals.

The League of Nations speech gives me chills especially since he did it in Amharic and not in some cac language. Bob did him justice when he sung "War". :to:

2. I got love for yall, my favorite coffee is Africafe straight outta Dar es Salaam. Oh, and the majority of Horners don't look light skinned they black as fukk. I put the disclaimer in the op that Horners aren't the only East African, most of the time when people on the coli bring up East Africans they talkin bout the Horners so I just named it that. If my East African brehs wanna get in on this thread they can, we family out chea. :wow:

3. Yeah the coffee is super strong, we put the world on to the coffee wave it's grown in a section of Sidamo called "Kaffa" hence the name. But if you ask me, I love our tea way more than the coffee.

1. Do u work out...any tips you have to bulk up and ascend in terms of strength and staying consistent...

2. We need to discuss more besides Ethiopia and Eritrea....anything positive you would like to tell us we may not know about Uganda like in terms of people and culture....and not just what we hear about the recent anti homosexuality laws...

3. Speaking of Uganda, why does it seem in this Country most African immigrants usually are more Nigerians and not many other countries

4. What is it with Black folks in General and getting jumpy over Black men growing out t their hair? I find it annoying

1. lol, I'm from America breh. I'm Ethiopian tho.

2. I believe in regional unity as much as I believe on African unity, so I love it. I'd love if the Horn and Sudan became one big ass country, we'd have enough resources combined to make each other rich.

1. Not as much as I need to. If I were you I'd just use them push ups to build functional strength. I just keep it simple and do push ups, crunches, and squats. Hit up the gym sub forum for bulking tips. :ehh:

2. I have no clue honestly, I'd rather a Ugandan answer that I don't wanna speak for them. :yeshrug:

3. Naijas are very enterprising people, they migrate anywhere and everywhere. They got the hustle and swindle mentality of a Somali and the arrogance of an Ethiopian. Nairas ain't enough for my nikkaz o. :ahh:

4. I think Carter G. Woodson called it the miseducation of the negro. :skip: All jokes aside, it's because this society generally frowns on long hair or facial hair. :ld:

Kenyan...plus I know we Kenyans are deep in the coli
As far as the federation, I believe as far as Kenya is concerned, we have waaayyyyyyyy bigger problems inhouse before we join hands with Ug and TZ.
Yes, a trading bloc, synergy, etc are pluses but it will be tenuous at best

@Imhotep after you answer @Don Drogo question tell me, what kinda food do yall be eatin in your part of East Africa? :ehh:

Food is very varied....Kenya for example as 40+ tribes and while certain foods depending on the region they are grown interchange among tribes, the cuisine is very varied.
African staples like rice, legumes and vegetables tend to be common across the country
Meats are the same....fish, beef, goat:noah::noah::noah:
Lots of Ethiopians, Somalis in Kenya tho......

True, so it's similar stuff for the most part minus using Injera. I like how Kenya is a hub for lot of different Africans, yall are real cosmopolitan. This chick I used to work with was an Ethiopian from Kenya, shawty was so cute n classy I was after her ass every damn day wit the flirtin :takedat:. I used to clown her when she called the letter Z "zedd". With that said, I was watching a program on al Jazeera about a soccer team in Kenya that was tryna bridge the differences between tribes.....is tribal conflict that bad in Kenya or is it just a few groups out of the 40+?

Rears it ugly head only during elections. I don't see how we popping bottles, making money then because you did not like the outcome of the elections all of a sudden I am the devils spawn and we resort to gunplay (or machete play:sadcam:).
Its mostly orchestrated by the puppet masters but the mistrust still lingers beneath the surface

lol, everytime me and my brother walked around the city and saw that sus shyt I'd be like "Pause no homo" as I walk by the happy couple them fools really don't know what they look like cuz outward gayness is shunned which makes it all the more :mindblown: to see, it's like they're too comfortable with their sexuality.

Damn that sucks about your girl tho I love Eritrean chicks they're usually bad as fukk and more open minded. Older Eri's can be real standoffish, I can understand tho cuz a lot of them was on the battlefield with the macs and choppers during their war with Ethiopia. When it comes to Habesha chicks you gotta get lucky that their parents are cool. If they open minded then you good money cuz they show extra love to outsiders so they feel comfortable.

Damn, sounds like Ethiopia they be on that tribe fukk shyt too just not on a violence level. I can't wait til the politics of my African people is separate from tribe and ethnicity. So basically the fools in place just pull the strings and make tribal groups get to clashing huh. Is it like Ethiopia where there are a few tribes that dominate over the rest or is it a free for all?
