Honestly Encore is kinda dope if you take off the songs where he's just straight up bullshytting. I can see the vision with that album, songs like Mockingbird is one of his best all time. Relapse was dope to me too but it's weird he doesn't really like it considering he was using accents on both Encore and Relapse.

To him, Encore is the album that got away. It could have and should have been a better album than it was, but the leaks and taking 60+ pills a day didn't help. You can hear it on most of the album, but he sounds slurred and more lethargic. I don't know if the leaks were going to make the album as good as The Eminem Show, but there are better versions on YouTube that fans put together.
Relapse is the album that if you removed it from Eminem's catalog, it wouldn't change anything. I still think it's the best album he's made since he got sober, but Eminem doesn't relate to any of the songs or take anything from them. With Encore, he likes "Yellow Brick Road," "Like Toy Soldiers," and "Mockingbird." Relapse is the anti-Eminem album. It's this weird project he made when he was trying to get his flow back, and he had a lot of fun making it, but everyone was confused by it when it came out. The criticism got to him and made him see that he needed to change direction before he ended up a has-been.
Recovery is nowhere near as good as Relapse, and literally all of the problems with Eminem's music started here, but that album saved his career and made him a superstar again. Relapse didn't do that, and it didn't get away from him like Encore did, so in the grand scheme of his career, it doesn't mean much to him. He would rather forget it exists, except when he randomly gives the people who like it freebies ("Discombobulated," "Is This Love").
Isn't Relapse the one where he raps like Borat for like 75%? Why the fukk would anyone like that weed plate. Waste of a buncha Dre beats...I wish Dre woulda produced Snoops album back then and Eminems now instead of vice versa.

He did put out anniversary merchandise, but he puts out merch for pretty much everything. There was a rumor he was going to drop the original tracklist, but it was just Stans trying to will something into existence and the vinyl releases turned out to be the typical colored vinyl crap that passes as something special for some people.

It has a large cult following and those who love it really love it while everyone else hates it. I am part of the cult myself....
It started as a Triumph the dog accent and then kind of morphed into something else. The accent I can take or leave but it doesn't bother me to where I don't like the album.
Yeah I see Em fans rank it high quite often, he basically lost me with TES or realistically the fad of it wore off for me, even TES I see a lot of ppl rank above MMLP and tbh I think I like maybe 5 or 6 joints off it when it dropped.
I used to love to shyt on him in his album threads and maybe it's just me maturing but something with how so many coli heads found genuine joy with this album and proclaimed him byke it just wasn't fun this go around, probably mostly I just wanted to let @SunZoo enjoy the moment. I even made a genuine attempt to give it a full spin, he just dont hit my ears right, it's like Future or Young Thug or Wayne after a certain era or even that flutist who never dropped a rap solo, I recognize the talent but it's just not for me.

My favorite Em album, not the best I mind you but my favorite to listen to/rap along with.
It’s a cathartic album for me. Which is why compared to TDOSS I have to rank it right below Relapse.
I loved the nostalgic aspects of the album and he definitely nailed the character bits more accurately on here but a lot of times good art is messy.
