Well none of what he's dropped on this album is heat but if it floats your boat, so be it. shyt is beyond wack to me and most in this thread.

Of course. I'm not saying the albums heat, but to me it's not so far a cry from the last few albums (and better than the last 2 to be top to bottom) to warrant the trashing it's getting in here. But maybe the last few albums have gotten the same response and I didn't realize it. I don't usually get into discussions about music on here for the very same reason you mentioned (different strokes, etc.) but the response just seems wild to me. :yeshrug:

Well I think a lot of em fans on this board thought he would actually drop something dope instead of more pop hits with non hip hop colabs, enough was enough. Huge fans like yourself are like the people in the YouTube comments who praise everything he does. So u have Em fans who think em knows his hip hop but finally realize he doesn't and that train has left a long time ago then u have his fans who can't distinguish between what's rap and what's not but if it's Eminem it must be good. And that's what I am seeing.

I feel like I don't fall in either of those categories. I can appreciate the Hip Hop and non hip hop collabs. I'm not looking for him to go back to any concept of his roots or do something that fits a certain concept of him because I have no set standard or expectation of what I would want from him. It's another chapter to me and insight on where dude is at in his life. It's just interesting to hear for me. Not from a hip hop standpoint, just as a fan of an artist that I've literally grown up with from 10 to 30. I'm not in YouTube comments, I'm shocked to even find myself in here. I'm just taking in the next chapter of dudes music. :yeshrug:

People on here in general don't fukk with Em, to the point that it's obvious bias/'hate', but I wouldn't chalk the criticism of this album in particular to that. People seem more sad/disappointed than they do eager to shyt on Em as much as they would any other time.

There was something wrong with this roll out/project and people are legit scratching their heads at the roll out, lack of videos and the music itself.

I could see the last part. I legit didn't know he had an album coming out until about 2 days before when I saw the thread in here clowning the tracklist. I didn't really like what I saw initially either but again, I'm not mad at what I heard. Between this and a few songs off the NBA2K soundtrack I got a playlist for the next week or so :yeshrug:

Em should've got John Legend on this album, at least it would've had some soul on it. something like this might of been suited for him. and this is a dope song too.

I'm listening to the new Eminem album. Wouldn't say it's my cup of tea in the replay value department. There's things I enjoy about it but I can see what people don't like about it

he should focus on humor and not soul

If it's not early Eminem it's most likely not my cup of tea. His first 3 albums represent an uncomparable product in the hip-hop market but it's also distinct enough to maintain a separation between itself and what would be considered classic hip-hop, because of that I don't categorize them as hip-hop classics. The first three albums were a solid run though and lyrically Eminem can be unmatchable but that doesn't always lend to the musicality of the song and that's why it seems that the song in itself is taking a backseat to the lyrics, and it's kind of like a schtick now.

Relapse was thematic, and if you can get past the vocal experimentation it's some of his most exceptionally lyrically inclined work, not to mention the last album with heavy involvement from Dr. Dre.

He's not in mine but having him in the top 10 is fair but beyond that you're in shakey territory

I think some of the reactions regarding this album are pretty funny. If you search “Eminem Revival” on twitter, anyone saying anything bad about Revival is labeled pro-Trump, totally ignoring the fact the a chunk of Em’s fanbase are Trump supporters that “don’t listen to hip hop but am a fan of Eminem”. They are the kind of people that play a lot of rap music, but don’t actually interact with black people or general hip hop culture. They’re so confused. This album is just as bad as Encore and Relapse and has some of the same underwhelming qualities as Recovery and MMLP2.
