After expecting a pretty garbage album (due to him putting out Recovery, and to an extent Relapse), this album completely blew all my expectations. Gets better with each listen and it seems like Em is finally comfortable with himself in this stage of his career. Album is getting overwhelmingly positive reviews from the critics and rightfully so ( The review that sums up this album perfectly, both positives and negatives > http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andy-hoglund-/marshall-mathers-buckles-_b_4203299.html )

After playing through this album around 7+ times fully, I'd say.

MMLP
TES

SSLP

MMLP 2

Relapse
Encore
Recovery.

You can tell who are Eminem fans from looking through this thread and who came in here expecting drake and future over trap beats...Like I said before...this album could have came out during the SSLP/MMLP era and it would fit right in...I can tell a lot of you nikkas got introduced to Em a few years ago......if you think this album is trash then Em ain't for u. Yall don't like the content...word...but you loved "Remember Me"...right? stop it...

don't mind me...lemme go back to listening to the album now...

To say this album would have fit nicely if released in 99-02 is straight blasphemous. Maybe if the album was filled with Bad Guy caliber tracks you might have a point. But this album is filled with mediocrity. Back than Eminem albums had rapped hooks not random wack white rnb singers. It was not featured with Pop stars like Rihanna and that random Cac on Headlights. Eminem albums catered to Hip Hop fans and wasn't infused heavily with weak rock/country music mash ups.

:mindblown: @ saying this fits perferctly with SSLP/MMLP Em....smh

Just letting it be known that its a horrible opinion and you lose credibility saying such. Back during sslp/mmlp his rhyme schemes effortless this time around they are choppy and some are forced as well. Not to mention weak punches with was never his forte. Screaming delivery is weak at times too.

Because you want an artist to stay the same for 13 years, and not evolve and show growth, experimenting with different sounds and branching out...no he should stay the same crazy 26 year old rapping about the problems that he no longer has. :camby:

to this day i do not like The Eminem Show :manny:

that was the Em i hated..he stopped using his original voice....started trying to kick knowledge...started becoming a gangsta :damn: granted theres some joints on there i like (Soldier, Say Goodbye to Hollywood)...theres those songs that everyone else love but i think are overrated (Til I Collapse, Cleaning Out My Closet, White America(to a lesser extent)).

even as ass as Encore is to me, i cant bump Eminem Show. that is the one Em album i skip every time when it comes up. shyt i bump Relapse AND Recovery straight thru with minimal skips :yeshrug:

:russ: Are you fukking serious? Recovery is trash, Relapse although not as bad, was not executed correctly. TES is a flawless album which easily rivals Em's work in MMLP.

After listening a few times, this album is really held back by the HOOKS, oh the awful hooks

Em is spitting like a maniac on most of these tracks and even if the odd corny punchline is littered about, the technical accomplishment of his raps are so impressive it makes up for them. The beats arent even that bad either, a$$hole is prolly the best Alex Da Kid/Em collabo, but these sung hooks on every track are awful. Like fukking horrible, and his first albums had MINIMAL singing, and even then it was more relaxed and subdued and less BELTING and SHRIEKING

Listen to the choruses on the MMLP, theres nothing remotely as catchy as the hooks for Kill You, Marshall Mathers, Under The Influence...where hes singing...on this album

3rd listen album is much better
perhaps this is a slow burn
Yea a lot of people have said they enjoy this even more after playing it more. For me it's pretty much the same, but each time I listen I do catch something different with the lyrics that I didn't notice before. This album seems to be opposite of Recovery (at least for me, and some others, where that album seemed decent on the first listen - and got worse over time). I'm not saying that this album goes from being bad to good by playing it more - I'm saying that on the tracks people enjoy to begin with, it seems like they grow to appreciate them even more after more listens.

Eh I think Till I Collapse is overrated too. His delivery is great, beat is great, chorus is great. Rhyming is pretty solid, but I feel like the content is lacking and it's not a flawless song.

Wait......you say you don't like where he started acting like a gangsta, but like Soldier? Because to me that's one of the most "gangsta" sounding tracks on the album. I don't understand how you like Say Goodbye Hollywood, but not Cleaning Out My Closet. Content wise they're both personal and what not so I don't get why you would like one but not the other.

His lyrical content is just as juvenile as it was 12 years ago. So in a way, he hasn't really evolved. He's still relying on shock value.
