On my second listen and not quite sure how to feel about this yet, even slightly disappointed. I'm pretty much an Em stan so maybe I just have high expectations. There is definitely some dopeness on here but also some songs that were kind ehhh.

In anticipation of this I've been listen to his whole discography and it reminded me of a time from around the MMLP to 8 Mile where every verse of his was just pure crack and I couldn't wait to hear them. During the whole Ja Rule/Benzino beef is where I think he was at his best, he was so motivated and clever it was so entertaining.

As far as the whole " angry screaming flow" I noticed something listening to his older shyt. He used to have a genuine anger in his flow and delivery in songs like Way I am and Say What You Say, among others that was really dope, now when he does it it sounds so different, it sounds disingenuous and as a result is not nearly as good as when he did it before.

Ultimately I need more listens to judge this accurately

Was this the last studio solo album we will get from Em'?

Plenty of reference on the album to this being his last

As one of the few people who have probably heard every released Eminem song(underground shyt included) I gotta say I'm not impressed. I did like that he revisited some of the older shyt from the first MMLP but in the end he came through with a sub par, mediocre album. I mean this is what we should have expected from Recovery era Eminem. I've only listened to it in its entirety once with a few random song listens here and there but its just not that good. This was as good as it was gonna get after a good majority of people shytted on Relapse(which I loved btw). Naming of the album, dyeing the hair, album cover were all just marketing to get us to pay attention although he didn't even need that because he's Eminem. In the end tho it sounds like this might be his last album and rightfully so. I'll still listen to this album because there are a few joints I do like alot but too many that are just meh. Recovery was a step in the other direction and I just don't think the world really wants to hear what I call "sober marshall" and this is coming from a nikka who started at the SSLP/MMLP in 2000 and has been a diehard since then. II can't defend this album, its just not that good.

A great way to go out. Album is amazing. N!ggas always complaining. He raps like a weirdo on relapse and ppl sh*t on it. He brings insane lyrics and emotional content on Recovery and ppl sh*t on it. Now he brings an album that is arguably damn near perfect, and ppl still sh*t on it lol. I wouldnt be mad if this was his last album. Doubt it though

Please give me a video for evil twin...:ahh:

Yo, those were some legit, "old" eminem lines in that song, straight up, and he sounds laid back and arrogant, not mad...you hear that laid back snoop/lyrics out the wazu shyt? :krs:

THAT was perfect, If DP3 was Jay-z's "I can still do that" song, this is that joint from eminem on that same wavelength. I haven't actually had to rewind his songs just for the lines and little bits in a good minute. You take a song like welcome to hell, he's flowing his ass off, but this was more wordy, clear, concise spits. shyt sounded effortless.

not feeling this @sshole beat but he made me chuckle a few times on this joint :russ:
thats how I kinda feel.

Dude is just going off...but I just can't listen to this more than 2-3x just to make sure I didn't miss anything.

This is something you listen to. You can't make memories to this music.

First listen there's definitely some highlights, Bad Guy, Rhyme or Reason, So Much Better, Legacy, Brainless, Stronger Than I Was and Evil Twin all stand out. There's a few tracks which are definitely out of left field in terms of beat / hooks. Em is spitting throughout though, glad the shout flow doesn't feature too heavily.

Will have to give it a few more listens before I give it a final decision. That track with Kendrick is random as hell, could see it being dope while I'm white boy wasted in the Sun though lol.

My homie just told me this is his favourite Em album after his 6th listen :patrice:
