4 maybe 5 songs with replay value. Lets not act like the whole album is good. I give it a 6 maybe a 7 outta 10. It's his best work since the Eminem show but that's not saying much since every album in between was hot ass in a trash can. I do appreciate his lyricism and that is something that's lacking a lot in hip hop these days but other than that most of his music now is... eh. My opinion

Relapse >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I have been having the urge to listen to relapse since I've kinda run this album into the ground, it's dope but the retail playlist is lacking without the bonus tracks, too many songs that I'd rather listen to besides those 3 or 4 misfires, def not his best shyt since TES, i'd rate it about the same as Recovery (3.5)

The biggest difference between them being that this is what I was kind of expecting/wanting from em this time around. When Recovery dropped I spent most of the initial listening experience complaining about it not being the sequel that I wanted. He executed on that album it just wasn't the album that i personally wanted...you had a lot of non-eminem fans enjoying that album.

But yea my custom copy is getting a lot of burn until marci beacoup drops.

Yea I never ever change albums around from their original version - but I found myself skipping through way too much of mmlp2, so I was forced to switch out 5 tracks with bonus stuff.

I'm curious to see how this album's replay value holds up over time. I'm really not sure. I wasn't a fan of Relapse when it first came out just because it threw me off with the accents, but I think it has aged really well and has held up well over time. I find the content/story telling to be more engaging than Recovery/MMLP2 - which just have a lot of random lines thrown around. Recovery has very little replay value. Not sure if MMLP2 will go stale for me or not.

It's a good 4 out of 5 in my book. I still play it to this day

I felt it when it first came out, but I just can't get into it much any more. Too much yelling, too many female/lame hooks, too many corny punchlines, not a fan of the noisy beats. Content wise it feels pretty weak, just seems like he's throwing random lines together. I don't thinks it's horrible and I'll still listen to it on occasion, but it's one of his weaker albums imo.

Like I said for what eminem was trying to do with that album, he executed well it just wasn't the album that I wanted after hearing him snap on relapse.

He dialed down the lyricism and story telling which are probably his biggest strengths in favor for a more top 40 sound. It irked the fukk out of me to see nikkas on here who normally wouldn't listen to em rant and rave about tracks like talking to myself. I still cringe when I hear that line about him wanting to diss wayne/kayne...especially since he was still throwing shots at whoopi.

I wasn't too high on that album for a lot of reasons that didn't even have to do with the music. I felt like he was pandering to the critics who had something to say about Relapse not having anything radio friendly or about the content not being palatable.

When he scrapped the sequel and did the 180 content wise It seemed like instead of lashing out at critics and doing more of what pissed them off, he pandered to them. Then he flipped flopped on how he felt about the album afterward, calling it wack on recovery and then backtracking on BME, I understand his mixed feelings with the subject matter probably reminding him of addiction but it's easily his best produced album and there were a lot of styles that he came with on that album that you couldn't find in his earlier shyt.

I just hope that backlash didn't kill his experimental approach completely, because the last two albums are much more "safe" in comparison, even more so with MMLP2 besides setting the bar so high with the title.

U know what I find odd? People make it seem like Bad vs. Evil 2 never was made. While Royce outshined Em on it. It was stil a solid album.

:ehh: Valid points. I agree he took a turn for the safe side on the album but I fukked with it and Eminem's run in 2010.

Tracks like On Fire, Seduction, Cinderella Man, Space Bound(LOVE this joint :ohlawd:) So Bad etc.

the fact that I had a great summer in 2010 helped too. Its One of my favorite Eminem albums

One of my favorite joints from recovery that nobody talks about is Almost Famous, the energy and the tone of the track is more motivational than em being backed up by a church choir

And why in the fukk wasn't "seduction" a single? :why:

A battle rap/club song, easily one of the best songs he's ever had as far as whip/radio appeal, lyrically crazy, females could fukk with it, I just don't understand having that on the album and not doing something with it other than have it take up a slot on the playlist, that song is fukking crazy.

The LL Cool J influence was very noticeable on that, which is great because he was my first favorite rapper.

It's aight, but clearly rushed and em was still OD'ing on the Gilbert Godfrey screaming shyt LOL

A Kiss, welcome to hell, echo, the runion all still get burn, the rest of that shyt was :ld:

They should drop another project though, but more focused and conceptual.

I was JUST listening to Almost Famous. Eminem really was put a lot of energy into that track lol.

and I agree Seduction had Single written all over it. should've made a video after "Love the way you Lie". Cinderella man could've been a single too

The album name is Hell: The Sequel. Bad Meets Evil is the name of them as a group FYI. IDK why they're calling it a "sequel" though, since they haven't really done an album before. I guess they're calling it a sequel following them making 2 tracks together as BME in Nuttin to Do and Scary Movies.

And that album is horrible imo. Em was still yelling as mentioned above - and he was also using a fukked up delivery where he would go from rapping at normal volume level to yelling or he would go from rapping at a normal speed to rapping fast. And he would do that numerous times within songs. Or he would just be rapping too fast/loud overall. He started doing that somewhat on Recovery, but it just got worse on BME. Really annoying to me and sounds horrible, and certainly doesn't ride the beat well at all. Not to mention the whole album just sounds thrown together and doesn't sound cohesive at all to me. Everything by Royce on there is pretty forgettable too imo, and I like his older work. BME is Em's worst project imo. Some shytty choruses on there too.

It's a reference to the song Bad Meets Evil from SSLP. At the end of the song, I think Royce, says "see you in hell for the sequel". Hence the title.
