I’m not saying I’m a fan of his by any stretch of the imagination but the way Twitter is being censored in one direction is very concerning… does anyone here believe in any kind of free speech? It gets censored in both directions. It's more noticable on the right because thier high profile people are out here saying wild shyt that breaks the TOS more than leftists. Elon appears to want to open the floodgates. That's bad for monetization and investment.

There are limits to free speech almost everywhere. You aren't allowed to be disruptive anywhere.

The limits of free speech are defined by your governments constitution. In our situation, the limit is you can say anything critical without fear of government censor. The limit is you can’t promote violence or fighting words, which courts have repeatedly upheld hate speech and other words to be. Elon Musk wants to allow racist nazis like Richard spencer and trump to say intolerant bullshyt without consequence. If that’s the case he can make his own fukkin social media website that caters to the alt-right, there’s absolutely nothing stopping him. But as all those right wing platforms inevitably show is those racists and conspiracy theorists eventually descend into murderous mobs like at the Unite the Right rally, or the crazy fukks at Jan6th, or the mf’ers who were shooting up pizza places because of something QAnon said.

the reason he doesn’t and specifically wants Twitter is because it already has a user base that he can more easily project and brainwash with his weird South Afrikan weeb shyt.

Fair enough. The double standard comes down to liability. The chance of a former president like Donald Trump or a news organization putting out info during a war leading to fukkery is higher so Twitter distances itself entirely to avoid getting caught in collateral from any potential bs. That’s why accounts that just quote former Trump tweets are allowed, they have no immediate consequences. And why the alt right nazis are allowed is because their presence is far less influential, but Twitter not banning them says a lot about their direction as a company and I’m sure Musk is all for it
