The paying taxes thing is a myth. It's common for locations to give companies who hire as many people as amazon a tax break because the revenue that place will collect from Amazon employees as well as the businesses that will spring up around it to service those employees far exceeds the tax break. No one is forcing those places to give Amazon tax breaks. Just like you saw in new York, they were free to say no and Amazon was free to look elsewhere.

So, corporations don’t pay any taxes because they’re helping out states by hiring a large tax base.

man im puzzled how smart people can swallow this myth

Furthermore , true capitalism is based on a free market , By Amazon not paying any tax the government gave them the massive advantage where they could afford to undercut their competitors and sell at a loss , The sole aim of this was not to corner the market but to put their competitors out of business , funny how prices have gone up now that they are one of the few shows in town

Look at fukking Uber , they are using exactly the same strategy , they pay hardly any tax so they are able to charge ludicrously low prices solely to run their competitors out of business , look how many years they were losing billions of dollars because they were so committed to their strategy of controlling the market

The loss of all those jobs , price competition which is good for the consumer , tax revenue .... but nah it benefits America

If these companies werent given an unfair advantage then hey its all in the game .... and the companies are not to blame , their sole purpose is to generate profits for their shareholders by any legal means necessary , that is why they exist

Its the government that is fukking up by not looking out for their electorate

I have always said companies like amazon either need heavy restrictions that would put a cap on their growth or pay a shyt load of taxes. I don’t even buy from there.

I don't know why he is complaining about the lockdown. His Starlink seems to be on target to light up the night sky with his train of internet service satellites. Wait until he gets all of those up and he will be the biggest ISP on earth.

He's always been an evil capitalist. He just marketed himself as some type of technological innovator and the public fell for it.

Should Tesla’s market cap hit a six-month average of $100 billion, it would trigger a tranche of 1.69 million options that Musk could purchase for $350.02 each. If, for example, he were to turn around and sell those shares at the stock’s Monday closing price of $798.75 each, Musk would profit around $758 million.

Tesla's Elon Musk gets closer to potentially massive payday

I said they get tax breaks. It's the same principle as giving celebrities free shyt. They obviously can afford it, but their endorsement means you're going to sell thousands to millions more of whatever you're selling. So you give away a million dollars worth of product to make 10 million.

Now if you wanna talk about the loopholes corporations exploit ruthlessly, again that's an issue of money being involved in politics. Being able to buy legislators who rig the game in your favor.

Quoted for truth.

With Musk I actually rocked with him years ago and even read his biography, but over time dude became more idiotic the more spotlight he got and it became clear that his cult following was too much for his ego.

There’s a bunch of news headlines that state Newsom is shutting down beaches and state parks, and that people will be fined, but what those blurbs don’t mention is that he has also eased a bunch of restrictions

Some Restrictions Lifted In Bay Area Shelter-In-Place Extension

All construction projects can resume as long as they comply with safety measures that will be included in the order, officials said, although details about those measures have not been released. Different sets of rules will be in place depending on the size of the project, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Real estate transactions can also resume, with limits on in-person viewings and open houses.

The outdoor businesses allowed to reopen to customers include flea markets, landscaping, gardening, car washes and nurseries, officials said. Restaurants and bars must still remain closed, even if they have outdoor seating.

Childcare facilities and summer camps for children of essential workers can likewise open, provided that they meet in groups of 12 children or fewer, and that the children stay within the same group each day.

And outdoor recreation like golf, tennis and skate parks, which had been banned last month, can resume, but sports that require person-to-person contact or shared equipment are still banned.

restaurants are also allowed to operate, they just cant have people dining at them.
