Yes but the Egyptians didn't have an Arab identify/culture/language until the 7th Century (when the Arabs invaded) and even then the modern day Egyptian language is not the same as the Arabic spoken in the Arabian Peninsula. Look at Gamel Nasar's efforts to forge Egypt into an "Arab" country. Dude went around actively attempting to totally establish Egypt as the head of the Arab world by suppressing its Coptic Identity.

Coptic was still around btw. He just accelerated its reduction. I think it'll eventually make a come back with SA getting so much pressure from Persia and Qatar tho.
