An average black man (even a middle class and upper class black man or any man) is going to pay for college how most Americans do....Take out some damn loans.

I literally went to undergrad and grad school with black folks (and white folks) in the poorest state in the nation in Mississippi and many of the folks I was in college with were studying high paying fields (engineering, Nursing, Law, medical, computer science) and most paid for school with loans.

Even my cousin (who is from Mississippi) who is one of those so called high paid doctors with who is making 7 figures in Cali paid for his college (undergrad at HBCU Xavier in N.O. and Medical School) with partial scholarships and loans.

I swear they are trying to dumb down folks with these hot takes. Sad part in all of this is it is a modern day minstrel show to either sell books and get their name out there. Either they on TV or social media hamming it up looking like Amos and Andy. Or they saying some ignorant shyt about black folks (especially about black men) or they doing some hyper sexual shyt or saying some disgusting degrading shyt about a sexual act.

Just anything for clout. I said before on here years ago. It ain't just about these folks tap dancing for a dollar its that they tap dance for pennies on the dollar. Yep and look I will never hate on any black person (or any person in general getting an education) but lets keep it buck a lot and I mean a lot of these young ladies out here getting degrees and multiple degrees (and certs) in shyt that won't even make them money. Where they will never be able to pay off their loan debt. Being more educated don't mean nothing if your degree won't put food on the table, won't allow you to pay back your loan and won't allow you to save for retirement. shyt like me bragging I got a BS, MS and PHD in General Studies.....what the fukk am I gonna do with that education and 150K worth of debt?

I told my niece when she was going to college do not and I mean do not major in a field without knowing how much they make once they graduate. Do not and I mean do not major in a field where it will take you 20 years to pay back your loans. Meaning don't take out no 120K in loans for a career that will start you out at 30K with a maximum pay of 60K in 10 years....that is hustling backwards.

My daughters are 12 and 8. I been telling them since they were 4 and 5 that you go to college to major in something where you can make money to be able to provide for yourself. Not so you can graduate, brag on the shyt and move back in with me and your momma cause your job don't pay shyt. I send you to college for a ROI not so you can be 30 still living in my house looking at me stupid eating up food in my home. Rich folks have they kids major in shyt that is fun cause they want to broader their view of the world.....they rich it don't matter if they kids make 10 dollars an hour or 30K a year. But for poor, middle class and upper middle class your kids need to go to college to major in shyt that will get them paid.

Its just like sports...don't no 5 star athlete need to go somewhere where they gonna get no training, no playing time and sit on the bench. Naw they go somewhere where they get training by the best coaches, best nutrition, best training and playing time so they can move on to the pros.

If it was just about demanding excellence for black people, why did this start with her denigrating bus drivers and suggesting the only way she could respect a black driver is if he owned the bus company? I defended her right to only date within her income bracket and still do. I don't expect lawyers to date bus drivers. But I expect people to respect blue collar workers, the working class, etc. Bus driving is a state job, meaning you get state benefits. It's not some quick job for high school kids, it's an actual profession you can take care of a family with, depending on where you live/experience.

Any revival of black income and communities has to start with the working class. Not everyone is going to go to college, excel, or enter graduate school. You build the community when the church or local business can hire a black electrician or black plumber to fix a problem, and a black construction crew to build a new building. And a black owned grocery store where black farmers can sell their products. And yes, black bus drivers who can recommend your son/nephew/cousin/daughter/niece for a job.

We've got too many rich black people who spend all of their time selling things to the community instead of building the community. We need fewer black liquor brands, fewer black autobiographies, and more of these folks paying for HVAC classes in the community.

This is true and she has also said this on other platforms. One of the biggest issues is that she tried to frame a point around income disparity and our overall over representation in essential and public service jobs, but many are focused on the gender war and uppity Black women who won’t date a bus driver. She is not a dating expert and has never positioned herself as one.

I think a discussion on uplifting ourselves into middle and upper class positions is more fruitful because Black wealth is headed to zero and income disparity is increasing between us and other races. There’s a lot of great counter points that people have made about her comments from dating to the importance of blue collar work. But, it’s fascinating to me that most people are more focused on who this random woman chooses to date and that no mechanic should fix her car now. We are always too focused on shyt that’s not important.
