:jbhmm: This made me wonder....is Madlib the most copied producer of the past decade? I kinda think maybe so.

Premier, RZA, and Dre were all copied heavily. But since 2010 there are a lot of dudes (good and bad) making Madlib-type beats.

It's a topic for another thread but you just got me wondering.

I felt like Madlib had at least one beat on here, then found out earl made all of em.

And Dilla gotta be the most influential/copied producer recently but nobody can really do it right so it's like new producers cant fool anyone.

Madlib style is easy to emulate.

For Dilla its hard to recreate the feeling a Dilla beat (drums + soul sample combination) gives you. Kanye has done it though. Knxwledge also.

IM fukkING PISSED THIS ALBUM SUCKS. I been an earl fan since he was in Samoa. This is fukking annoying. I waited 3 years for this? This is what he puts out? These are liked unmixed demos of an audio form of chronic depression. Was he recording these tracks on a MacBook built in mic on a crowded train or what? I cant see how anyone can see this garbled mess of engineering as a type of aesthetic or anything. You can barely make out his words on some tracks. That dark shyt was cool before but now he’s like on some I give up shyt. 5/10

The Bends is a crazy track. very Rza'ish

Every time I listen to these tracks the lyrics and other small shyt start popping out more. This is a deep project

Bend we don't break we not the bank
we all we got
switch whips, relocate way out of state
Bada bing, bada bam
It's the puppet master, all of the strings in my hand :ahh:

If you don't like this album, you don't like lo-fi Hip-Hop. And that's ok, because it's not for you. :manny:

But this is the best lo-fi album I've ever heard. Better than Zeroh shyt, better than Milo shyt, better than anything. :hubie:

The song Earl just did for Fahim is the funkiest shyt I’ve ever heard from egghead.

I fire up this album. First song sounds like a geeks death dirge.

I've rewinded this about 4 times now. This joint grows on you and grows on you QUICKLY. I had to break out the M50's and amp to truly get the full effect of Earl's mic presence, byway of increasing the treble and neutralizing the bass. Dude is spitting on this, but even if the "dirty" mixing was intentional I think it undermines the project just a little bit.

Azucar, the mint, nowhere2go, and December 24 are the stand out tracks. The production is great in general.
