Why isn't it about having a moral high ground?
And you you are deluding yourself, Islamic imperialism occurred for the same exact reasons western imperialism occurred and it was overzealous until they got checked by other empires
and it's not even important what happened in Europe, I was referring more to the genocide and slavery in black africa conducted by Muslims
Islamic expansion happened because of greed and resources and for islamification of foreign groups, Islam has truly brainwashed you if you think otherwise, if there is some greener grass on the other side of western imperialism it sure as hell isn't islam, their history is as bad if not worse than westerners
I said it's not about a moral high ground because one is not better than the other.
terror happens today because of western imperialism... We are in modern times.. nations are divided up, and the world is more connected than it's ever been. It's barbaric to compare or justify things that people do today, in modern times, based on what some group did in antiquity.
And Islam hasn't brainwashed history.... no grass is greener but some details are different. infiltration of foreign media, control of natural resources, Zionism, and Western imperialism are things that are happening now. The Islamic expansion, was due in part due to them having faith and wanting to spread it... but also due to the two other main empires fighting and were conveniently weak as fukk around the same time. Also, Muslims allowed the nations and groups to still practice their own religion, customs, and also allowed them to govern themselves, for the most part, on the local level. It was different also because there just wasn't extreme levels of "collateral damage". armies fought armies. And the
#1 motivation by the first Islamic expansionist was the find lands that Muslims could practice freely - they couldn't in their homelands.
The conversation was about imperialism. Specifically Western imperialism.
So why bring up some as irrelevant to the conversation as Islamic slavery in Africa? I'm assuming you feel that that is necessary to bring up when speaking to a black muslim - because you have some fallacious argument swimming around in your head about black's practicing Islam. Every culture on Earth practiced slavery long before Islam... Some of the people with the most slaves were in Africa.. It wasn't until the Qur'an that people even considered to not practice it in a more human way and make avenues of freedom for slaves.... The most favorite slaves to have in ancient Islamic world were the military slaves.. and those slaves were initially white -from Russia and places in Europe. In Northern Africa, slavery was such an important practice long before Islam was ever thought of.. that it was transitioned into the practice of traveling Muslims once they reached the land. They weren't taken as slaves because they were black. No free Black African could be taken as a slave due to Islamic Law. However African leaders had so many slaves that Islamic people both black and arab just traded for them. There were Arab slaves for most purposes in Arab society. The African was mainly used for military purposes because they simply were better at it than the arab or white slave. Idk why that was. But it wasn't until the Atlantic slave trade that slavery for the sole purpose of catching a black person became a practice in the world.. and arabs participated in that, not because of Islam... but because it was lucrative to make these deals with the Europeans.
