What he said makes sense, the "max" contracts wouldn't be as big a deal if guys like LeBron, Kobe, Rose and Durant were making $40-50 million a year.
The cap on the max a player can make is the problem, franchise players aren't paid what they are actually worth, while all-stars and big men are overpaid only in relation to what the franchise guys are making.

I've been bytching the past week or so about the lack of touches he's getting now in their new offense.
They have him running around like a chicken with his head cut off setting screens for everyone like he's Tyson Chandler, instead of giving him post-up opportunities once in a while.
He's not The Dream on the blocks, but he's the best we've got and he does command a double team. They opened the 4th quarter tonight by finally giving him the ball and they got three straight 3's out of it because the defense collapsed on him. After the third one, they stopped going to him and they fell apart.

The whole point of max contracts was to curtail escalating salaries and save owners from themselves. The result is Brook Lopez and and Roy Hibbert and James Harden getting max deals.
While I'm not a really a Howard fan and I think that he's overrated(like a lot of players these days), you can't really judge him when he's not fully healthy. He clearly doesn't have his lift back yet. If he never gets that supreme blackleticism back then yea, he'll be in trouble.
