Don't quantize your drums. Practice playing your drums with your own unique feel. Goes a long way.

You could also manually move certain notes off the grid slightly, but this always seemed so tedious to me.

Sometimes you can copy the same kick on to another pad and adjust the attack and release on the volume envelope so it gives your kicks that variation like "bu-Boom".

This and also mess with the velocity to give the push and pull feel.

what i do is i'll set it up with quantize then adjust as necessary. i usually have a varying mix of quantized/unquantized drums with varying attack/volume levels.

Going practice more over the weekend....need to shake this sound man....I have no problems chopping up and putting together samples.... my problem is I'm lazy wit the drums
