Rappers With College Degrees:
-Rapper, producer and actor David Banner obviously had the entrepreneurial spirit years before he broke into the music industry. The "Like A Pimp" rapper graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he majored in business.
-Chris Bridges -- better known as the witty, southern dipped rapper Ludacris -- attended Georgia State University where he graduated with a degree in music management.
Luda put his courses to work soon after completing school, co-founding Disturbing Tha Peace Records with his manager Chaka Zulu.
-Hip-hop icons Chuck D and Flavor Flav formed a lifelong bond while attending Adelphi University on Long Island, New York. Flav studied communications and business while Chuck D, known as Carlton Ridenhour during his college years, majored in graphic design.
-As the son of two professors, Talib Kweli most likely had no option but to follow in his parents footsteps and earn his college degree. He stuck to his creative interests, though, attending New York University where he graduated with a degree in experimental theater.
-Tajai from Hieroglyphics & Soul's Of Mischief has a degree in anthropology from Stanford.
-Keith Elam, better known as GURU (Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal) was the MC of influential hip hop duo Gang Starr. He later went on to have a successful solo career and was known for incorporating jazz influences into his tracks. GURU earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Morehouse College in Atlanta and subsequently took graduate courses at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology. Sadly, the hip hop pioneer passed away in 2010 from a heart attack at the age of 48.
-Brooklyn-born MC Masta Ace is known by true hip hop heads as one of the best lyricists of all time. Ace—real name Duval Clear—rhymes about urban life without reverting to a gangster-rap style and has been cited by Eminem as one of his biggest influences. Ace earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island.
-Hub of the Roots has a music degree from Carnegie Mellon.
-Ice Cube earned his Architecture degree at Phoenix Institute of Technology.
-Phonte from Little Brother earned his English degree from North Carolina Central University.
-J. Cole earned his Communications degree along with a minor in Business from St. John's University.
