it makes more sense that they emulated the Mau Mau.The rastafarians could relate to the struggle that the Africans were going through at the time and you can hear it all through the conscious lyrics in the roots music they sang.

No. Have you ever met any Sadhus? They don't believe in Ras Tafari aka Haile Selassie being the second advent of Christ or God himself. Sadhus are yogis, which comes from the buddhist belief system.

You're right.But still,i think the Mau Mau added more symbolism to dreadlocks for the rastas because these were Africans chasing the white man from their land.The connection must have been stronger here than with the Indians.
