Now before anybody brings up the fact that Barnett is the color commentator for the Warriors, and that
parti pris may be at play here - that may very well be true, however you can make that argument for anybody that has an opinion of the game. Especially since the other side of Barnett's coin could be that he's biased towards his generation and the players he played with. But what better opinion do we have than from someone who actually played in the league (we all know how TheColi just loves to regurgitate the talking point of players knowing more about the game than the fans), who played with and against one of the greatest defenders during the league's foundation stages in Bill Russell, who has either been an active player or covered the league ever since the 1960s, and most importantly still has his wits about him.
"But how can a role player be the greatest defensive player?" the basketball commoner said.
