I guess we’ll all see how it plays out but this situation feels way different than that KD shot. Draymond didn’t fire off on KD and there wasn’t a video for the world to see. It’s humiliating for Poole.
You don't think it was humiliating for KD when Draymond told him "
We don't need you. We won without you." for all the world to witness? Some would argue it's even more so.
I don't think it's any different, and I don't think it's anything this squad can't overcome. They've been through worse times.
Many thought the Warriors couldn't get past that, and they did, where only injuries stopped them from winning that season. Whatever happens this season, the Warriors' championship hopes are not going to be decided by this. I said earlier in the thread, but in 1-2 months time, this will be forgotten, and there'll be some other fukkery that occupies our minds.
The fact this happened before the season even begun should give even more credence to them working towards moving past this, and it being a distant memory by the time the postseason rolls around.
It comes down to how management handles the situation, and if they can make everyone happy and winning on the court again.
Draymond has been treated like a special needs child his whole career in GS. Grown people making excuses for another (rich) grown man's behavior, because "that's just Draymond".
This strategy is what's on trial.
If they start losing more than expected, and/or this Poole Green funk continues into the season, "the culture" will be the topic of the sports media.
The '00s Lakers went through similar shyt
The '90s Bulls went through similar shyt.
What folks have to understand is, this is all too common place in competitive team sports, and these guys learn to function together even if they don't fukk with one another (the dynamic between the Bulls and Rodman is the best example of this). Draymond and Poole don't need to be the best of friends or coexist outside of basketball for the team to move forward, they just need to get the shyt straight on the floor, and they've given us no doubts they can't do that. They've won four titles, and built one of the greatest dynasties operating in this manner; with Draymond's suspension in 2016, Draymond getting it into with KD in 2019, and every other instance that Draymond has been at the center of.
I don't see the sense in stating this strategy
is on trial. They've literally won more games with this core than any team in history with Draymond being the way he is.
They've beat the case long ago.
If they start losing more than expected, well, that'll likely be the path they were always going to go down, regardless, if this incident happened or not. There'll inevitably come a time when this team falls off, due to age, wear and tear and/or where the group just doesn't function together like they once did for whatever reason (playing groups can grow apart).
