their argument is that drake fans are sheep that march to UMG's beat. so UMG will kill his popularity for the negotiation period (basically tell them drake is lame right now so fukk him) and then increase his popularity once they have him signed (you can like him again). all they have to do is flip a switch because his popularity isn't organic, it's manufactured. right? that's the only way this line of thinking makes any sense.

I've never seen people make excuses for a rapper like this and it started super early: people excusing him for using his phone during the Funk Flex freestyle. We then got years of rappers doing the same shyt during freestyles, including some underground dudes yall love. Then he got excused for ghost writers and stealing songs. Then he got excused for losing a rap battle to Pusha because "it didn't hurt his career." Then his fans spent most of 2024 using the same argument only for Drake to torpedo that by filing a lawsuit confirming his career was hurt...only for the stans to move the goal posts again and turn him into Rosa Parks or some hero fighting for the fights of the common man.
