KOD was good, and I'm on record as defending it because to me, it felt like Cole was back after 4YEO. But it's not something I see myself going back to that much. Ideas are fine to have, but it wasn't executed well. And this album is a prime example of the narratives that follow Cole being true. The Off-Season shattered those narratives, and it sounds like he's gaining a second wind in his career. Don't know if it's his absolute best work, but I can play it front to back unlike FHD.
I can't take folks opinion on Cole serious when they say he's not making the best music of his career right now.

The feature run he went on since KOD, the last Dreamer album, The Off-Season etc. Also, The Off-Season is much better than KOD
:dead:

Dude was featuring "Kill Edward" :comeon: with awful autotune and going with that "Plat with no features" gimmick after stans gassed that dumb shyt. Cole has improved as an artist and an MC once he got back to working with others and experimenting more with his sound.

Cole lyrically and musically better than ever.

I rock with most of the soft shyt more than the hard shyt on this one :ehh: probably ran it 4 times total at this point. It’s on the lower end of my rank of his albums, but it’s still a Drake album, i.e. still good af to me

Do you realize this literally makes no sense from an artist standpoint?
:what:
You realize artists and musicians do this all the time?

Depends on the artist tho. Some are always looking to push the envelope with their sound (Think Outkast with The Love Below, Kanye with 808s and Heartbreaks, Kendrick with TPAB etc).

If Knife Talk woulda been a 21 track and ended after his second verse :wow: it was on track to be my favorite. That first Drake verse was nice

Just finished 80% of the album. I'd give it a 6.5/10 so far. Personal faves are as follows:

  • Way2Sexy
  • The 2nd half of N2Deep
  • IMY2
  • TSU
  • Race My Mind
Kats really need to fukking quit it with the 20+ song albums unless they have a cohesive theme that links each one to each other, or the subject matter of the songs are varied. At the same time though, Drake kind of did the former, but it's his usual shtick.

Your examples don't even fit the point you are trying to make. Those albums were totally different sounds for those artist at the time. They weren't trying to appease a specific subset of their fanbase while ignoring the rest of it which is what the original point was. And Drake already gave you what you wanted with IFYRTITL.
