This is nuts. The production is the best part so far. The mellow synth/ pseudo vaporwave production drake is into is an outlier in rap right now. It sounds different than the usual trap beats
This album is the same old drake, nothing new nothing innovative, it’s over for this guy

Brolic... Alcoholics
Skimming through this, I feel that Drake has made this album many times before. At this point in his career he aint going to take any risks or challenge himself creatively.

It’s not bad…there’s songs that I liked and I was surprised to see he had a Cudi feature which was cool but I thought Donda was the better album even with its flaws.

Ye took creative risks, tried new ideas, some worked some didn’t but it was more interesting.

Drake recycled ideas and went with a formula that’s automated that’s proven to work. If it’s not broken don’t fix it.

That’s the difference I see between both albums.

I agree with most of what you said except Donda was just wack.

Being creative and being great aren't mutually inclusive and Donda is the perfect example of that. Was it creative? Yes. Was it good? No.

As far as hip hop is concerned the best album I've heard in the last ten years that was a great balance of rap and creativity is To Pimp A Butterfly.

Also this is like Drake’s 12th project since being mainstream

No artist is making their best collection of music at that point in there career, especially not someone as accomplished and rich as Drake

Now, I’ve only listened to the album once but the problem seems to be it’s not better than Scorpion or any of the music he’s released since then

So when your new stuff doesn’t sound better than what everyone has been listening too already there’s going to be a let down

Now, compare that to Cole where most people weren’t feeling 4YEO and KOD, The off-season sounds like a return to form of some sort when really it’s just better than your last

Same with 4:44 and MCHG

Those projects are not touching peak Cole or Jay but it’s all about expectations and Drakes are high and he didn’t deliver

Drake stans in shambles over this mediocre album :mjlol:

Nas and Jay Z are 30 years into their careers and get critiqued and criticized for every song, album, verse they do…. Drake gon take this criticism
This is a fair critique. Nas steadily putting out mid proves there's a market out there if you can find it.

This album doesn't have anything really wack but it also doesn't have any great/true bangers. Overall it's pretty average...everything about it musically seems like I've heard it before time after time from Drake. The Project Pat part was the best thing I heard:francis:
