Then I guess Goku cant be blamed for any universes that end up getting erased. If anything, through sheer dumb luck hes giving some of these universes a chance at survival.
I dont think goku is evil per se' 
but I believe ever since he got that taste of god power he's become obsessed on pushing himself to that next level because he's a fukking gym rat... He's letting this desire of his to become stronger override what little common sense he has... 
He wants to get to a final form that internally he knows can be reached and it's only by fighting on the edge he can get there... That's how saiyans work... fighting in battles on edge, getting mortally wounded and healed he probably figures he can force his body to mutate again
That's his goal...
