I just got back from seeing the movie, I would say it's better than broly. It had more going on than just fighting and I like the emphasis on piccolo.

Until this story is mentioned in the manga it’s not cannon tho. How is that bullshyt? Are the Garlic JR movies cannon? Smh
Not including this movie, 85% of DB movies are non cannon.

Garlic Jr, the Z movies, and Z anime fillers weren’t written by Akira Toriyama. This movie, Broly, Resurrection F, and Battle of the Gods were all written by Toriyama. The movies are currently being used to continue where the anime left and so is the manga. Toriyama overseas both anime/movie and the manga . The continuity is canon on both the anime and manga. This will be adapted in the anime whether it is a mini-arc like they did with Battle of the Gods and Resurrection F or it’s mentioned in two panels as a footnote like they did with Broly. The manga to this series is not the only canon for Super. For Z and other anime the manga is what comes 1st and is adapted to the anime. That’s not the case with Super, the movies Battle of the Gods and Resurrection F came 1st then the manga and anime.

Garlic Jr will always be canon in my heart, breh. But yeah, the rest of the Z movies are non-canon, except BoG and RoF.
