Toriyama's been all over the place with Dende's age, even during the Buu saga lmao. During the Great Saiyaman and early Buu stuff he looked like a teenager but by the time he came back after Super Buu merked everybody he was drawn like a kid again lmao.
I guess it's plausible that Dende was even younger than Gohan n the Namek saga and so by the Buu saga he's only like 12/13
