So he a scammer because he hasn’t been able to open a school with the 700 thousand dollars he got from donations?
Y’all don’t like him and think he a grifter but nobody has proven he is actually scamming people

I just find it ironic @Unknown Poster makes this thread when he got pictures on the internet of hugging up on obese white women, let alone the instances of dude begging on the internet for rent/moving money lowkey scamming but I guess everybody got they opinions

Eh....I think Umar being a deceptive scammer can be open to debate.

I personally think Umar does genuinely believe in his cause but he just isn't qualified to handle it primarily on his own without extensive help. Umar has said out of his own mouth on various podcasts that he turned down help from numerous people in similar fields so that he could do things on his own terms.

Yet his own supporters and donors are getting screwed over because of his stubbornness. It's been 13 years in and this man is still working on the very early development of the school and it's nowhere near complete. He has a building which is the bare minimum but his curriculum, staff, faculty, security, maintenance, utilities, technology, extra curricular activities, etc. are still very underdeveloped and are going to take even more years to get in place for proper usage.

So, Umar may or may not be a scammer but it's clear that he's just not qualified to handle this task without extensive help and him admitting to rejecting outside help(from other Black people nonetheless) is pretty suspicious.

And, like someone said, there's already Pan African or Black focused charter schools out there and, by the time Umar's is ready for attendance, those schools would probably have gained more traction than the FDMG school from his own target audience.

Umar isn’t a perfect person but sometimes I think people just want to choose a easy target

In my opinion the idea of funding a school strictly off of black dollars wasn’t going to work, but umar wants to stick with his beliefs, it is what it is, if people want to donate to that than so be it, and truth be told I feel like it’s way easier scams than trying to scam through a school

I'm really trying to understand how there are people to whom it is not obvious that breh is a scammer. Unless you are legit mentally disabled, school, your parents and every other person in your life must have failed you if you lack the little bit of common sense it takes to see this guy for who he is:mjlol:
Can you prove he a scammer

Breh, it took him about 9 years to raise $750,000 for this 'school'. I've been in the building/home improvement/energy conservation trade for almost 20 years and I'd just like to point out what I saw from the tour and a couple other videos on this property:

  • The roofs are shot. It'll take at least $350,000 to repair them.
  • Buildings need new windows/doors so that's another $150,000 - $200,000.
  • Needs new plumbing, electrical work, drywall, etc, so that's about another $400,000 or more.
  • Needs school supplies like desks, chairs, blackboards, computers, books, gym equipment and I have NO idea how much those cost aside from PCs. So, you figure about 20 (at the least) with requisite networking peripherals, cabling, servers, UPS, etc, could run as much as $50,000 - $100,000.
  • He wants to stucco the outside so that's EASILY another $400,000

So far, we're looking at another $1,500,000 just to get it up and running. Since it took him 9 years for half that, we can estimate that it'll be another 18 years before this school opens.

That's not all. The school is in Wilmington, DE. There are approximately 2,500 school-aged children there. Of that number, 58% are Black. Of THAT number, half are female, so, that leaves his school to serve a student body consisting of about 800 boys. The average income in that city is $39,000. What are his tuition fees? Can anyone that lives there afford to attend the school even if subsidies are approved?

Now, I'm all for cats trying to help our people get ahead, but from what I see, this ain't gon' work.

I gave you a list of actual criticisms that would apply regardless of the intent of the building and I don't recall ever saying that he was scamming/robbing people. Dude has SERIOUS logistical issues that need to be addressed before these abandoned buildings can even be considered an actual school.

Saying 'all he has to do is get funding from the State ...really not that hard' belies your ignorance of the process involved in securing said funding. Has Umar even applied to the State of Delaware for assistance as a non-profit organization? Has he written a detailed proposal to the State completely outlining the goals of the organization? Does he have a Grant writer or is he undertaking that labor himself in order to save several thousand dollars? Does he have any idea how to generate a revenue stream from the school? Is the funding to be recurring or episodic? Does he have a Board of Directors to oversee said funds and report to the State monitors on a timely basis? Does he even have an account at grants.gov and current Central Contractor Registration?

Hell, I'm forgetting a few more requirements, but I think you get the general idea.

It is, indeed, a process and can take months if not years. He's already taken 9 years to get this far, which is a cool achievement, but to my knowledge, NONE of the things I'm suggesting above has been addressed by Umar in ANY capacity during those 9 years. I may have to check through his site and social media accounts to see if that's the case, but if they have, I'm sure a lot of the flack he's been taking from his detractors would subside.

Y’all throw scammer out a lot but what is a scammer
Call him a scammer, call him a grifter, call him a snake oil salesman, call him a fraud. He is a person that exploits other peoples gullibility to make a living. He is posing as a political activist but that is not what he is. He is mainly trying to make a living off of clicks and donations

So you saying he should run for public office? I’d vote for him. :manny:

Like I said, it's not easy to prove if someone is a "scammer" or not. Umar could very well be misguided and not a scammer.

But it's going to realistically take many years for Umar to complete his school. And I'm not talking about "right around the corner" years but likely closer to the 2030's regardless of what he tells people on his podcasts. It's one thing to get a building up but the real challenge comes from sustaining the building and having enough sufficient funds to pay the employees and keep up with maintenance costs. It's not going to be a great look if Umar received funds from supporters for so many years only for his school to close down shortly after taking off.

Life is passing Umar by with this project and there's other independent and charter schools who are dabbling in his lane right now without the heavy social media presence.

Even if Umar's intentions are pure, he's just not really qualified to handle the project without a lot of assistance. Plus, it's clear that his real passion lies in being an Afrocentric social media influencer and activist rather than being heavily invested in education and teaching.

All of the colis zaddys are scammers they have no personality or identity of there own so they buy into them and it would be too big an ego hit for them to admit they're whole steez is built on a fabrication
