What's up with the trend of "intellectual" nikkas playing sycophant to bytches? Weak. This fukking comment from a Black man.
"It is true that black men do not have militaristic, political or economic power over black women. However, those are not the only forms of power. I mean, we very often see black women with more education and more money still talking about being "submissive". Blak women still have their hair, mating choices, career choices, sexual practices etc policed by black males. Black women are more likely to be sexually assaulted or victims of IPV than any other group of women. Not to mention the fact that black women fill church pews where sexist rhetoric is spewed from the pullpit and trash like Steve Harvey continues to make millions off of policing black women. Not to mention the very practical everyday ways in which black women carry the black community on their backs. Black feminist thought--dating back to Zora Neale Hurston--has always defined the unique experiences of black women as different than those of white women. Its never been about wealth."
This is what I call, internalized patriarchal guilt...
You think you have power, simply because you are a man....
This shyt...
If you don't have military, political or economic power...then what other power is there...
What's up with the trend of "intellectual" nikkas playing sycophant to bytches? Weak.

@xoxodede Come with some data or I won't acknowledge your post.
The irony in calling a woman criticizing other women dismissive because a concept doesn't match reality. Data shows the opposite of belief, and emotional tirades ensue.
Black women have the majority of real estate in the Black community in academia, social media and entertainment to signal boost their issues
For every Dr. Curry there are 1000 Bell Hooks For every Tariq there are 10000 Feminista Jonez and Jamila Lamieuxs For every Nate Parker there are 1000 Ave Duvernays and Issa Raes
This about to be long. I was debating on whether to replay - cause I know as woman coming into this convo - it can lead to being disrespected - but I hope this can be positive and respectful.
So....
I like Yvette - but I couldn't rock with that video/topic. It's damaging, dismissive and unprogressive. This will not help move us forward. She kept saying BW examples were "racism." Anyone who listens to C.O.W.S. and understands/knows the definition of WS/racism - knows that doesn't equate.
Patriarchy is not just about power in economics, political leadership, etc --- it’s the natural structure of family, moral authority, social and gender privilege and it's roles.
Black men can be patriarchal and it exist without "Power." And..."Power" is relative.
I grew up in one (Black Male Patriarch Household) and my family is still ran by Black males on both sides. Plus, the male offsprings are continuing the legacy. It is also patrilineal, meaning that property and title are inherited by the male lineage. Is it BAD? NO. It doesn't have to be.
It's not just political power. Black male patriarchy is historical in our community - but we dismiss it or get told it doesn't exist. When it does. We can not continue to blame BW and this supposed Black "Matriarchal" system for the ills of the Black community.
There are spaces in the Black Community where black men dominate the dialogue, conversations, issues and are advantaged over Black women.
There is Black male privilege and gender based oppression in our community. It's not to be compared with white privilege -- it's relative to Black women. I don't know why it's so hard to admit this.
@CharlieManson - you know I love you - but even your comment is a prime example.
And some motherfukker grown as Black man gonna start Juelzing about "Black women issues...
It's about dismissing, ignoring and putting Black men first at all times in our communities and conversations. It's always been like that - and if BW try to change the dialogue - people start bytching.
My thing is it's BOTH Black men and Black women - why can't we figure out a way to help and talk about both. It's Black women and girl teens in jail too. They are not being talked about either - bring them in to the conversations. Why center it only on BM - that's is the definition/example of Black Male Patriarchy and Privilege - which is "centering your oppression to the exclusion of others."
There is "misogynoir" - I am not even a "feminist and I know that ish.
Though misogynoir can be perpetrated by anyone, the term most often refers to the violence, mistreatment, and erasure experienced by black women at the hands of black men.
The comments on "Black Single mother's choosing better," being masculine, sexual politics like "body counts" over X amount makes you a ho, if a man cheats it's cool, if a woman cheats - it's over, Black women "running" to their "White Daddies" cause she is stuck being a single mom - and and needs help, berating BW about "weave" or weight - when and if any-of that is turned to BM - it's dismissed -- just and other stupid comments thrown and constantly repeated about Black women -- it's real.
So, yes Black men can exercise patriarchy - even in the system of White Supremacy. Yes, Black men can be sexist.
Coming together and acknowledging this - is the answer.
