it's all hype, I agree that the drake album isn't as dope as people are claiming it to be and I'm a drake fan. but I think hype is a bigger factor than talent now-a-days. and I'm not a major fan of Dre but I will admit to when someone releases good music. Dre's compton album did come and go quick, it was hyped, it got released then it went dark. and like you, I don't like or dislike an album based on reviews because I tend to find the reviews to be incorrect. but I did expect a good album (like you, not a game changer) but I was let down (in my personal opinion).

That was expected. It was announced like a week and some change before it got released. Then he released it without a single or video. There hasn't even been any follow up. It's not like the album's being hailed as a classic, so what's really left to talk about? IMO, it was one of the better releases of 2015 and even when it dropped there was other music I was listening to.

Not trying to argue but the album was most certainly over hyped. and it shadowed a couple projects which were way better than this album but because it was from Dre and Dre hasn't released an album in a while, all the internet rap write up sites were riding his dikk a little to hard and close for comfort.

Everyone isn't a plant, but anytime a rapper who doesn't even have a handle on how to construct a proper 16 or atleast a track run with 32 or more bars can outshine some of the best technical writers around, it does bring up the question of industry-plants.

but as you've said, Dre's production and mixing is and has always been on point. no denying that.

It's Dre first album in over 16 years. 16 WHOLE YEARS

1999 is more than a while breh... if the blogs/forums/social sites weren't discussing it
I'd be surprised. Let's not act like this wasn't also soundtrack too
