The good doctor is the most influential and most important artist ever in this bullshyt we call hip hop. Don't let the biased east coast losers on this site tell u any different.
I'm from the east and I love the album. But I feel u (pause)

I swear all Dre had to do was make an album with modern sounding West Coast G-funk beats and everyone would have been happy but he had to overthink it and try to reinvent the wheel.

All he had to do was drop an album with Beats like this and rap with his normal voice and we would have had another classic.

This is how the album should have sounded. West Coast G Funk with a modern twist. Not ONE beat on Compton was anywhere even close to these beats and I challenge anyone of you to tell me otherwise :ehh:

They picked Tribes top 2 and Dres top 2 plus Public Enemys best album.

Theres a clear difference in quality and impact between Chronic, 2001 and Compton. That doesnt make Compton wack however.

No one is going around saying its a classic of the genre and equivalent to those 2 either so I dont get the argument.

I skimmed through this album a couple of times previously and when it came out and was not feeling it.....AT ALL. I wasnt feeling it for the same reason a lot of other people werent feeling it, because it didnt sound like vintage Dre. it was totally different from anything he had ever done. So I really didnt give it a chance. Fast forward to 2020 and I took the time to actually listen to it again all the way through without skipping and its not a classic or anything but I like it. I think its solid. for what it was, it was very solid and better than the majority of hip hop being put out today. If Detox ever comes out or whatever his next project will be, I am sure it wont sound anything like this, as this was not supposed to sound like any of his previous works. I am East Coast all day too.

MOST PEOPLE LISTENED TO IT THE SAME WAY U DID

BUT IT IS A CLASSIC

SURE, ITS NOT VINTAGE DRE AND THATS WHAT PUT PEOPLE OFF.. BUT SONICALLY ITS INCREDIBLE AND THE LAYERING ON THE BEATS IS ONE OF THE BEST EVER ON A RAP ALBUM.

This shyt was wack like his aftermath album.

Dre's heart ain't in it anymore. I mean if you become a billionaire off some head phones then you ain't hungry like you were before. :yeshrug:

I probably need to go back and listen to Aftermath too, lol. I feel what you are saying about being rich....but I still think this was a quality album. Right now there are a few songs that standout to me but I will listen more and I think more will probably come into my favor.

People keep saying it's not vintage Dre. But people keep forgetting in his later years he wasn't doing the work. Cats like Mel Man were actually doing the beats. Then Dre would come along add bells or some shyt:russ:

Even 2PAC called him out on that. People mistakenly think Dre did All Eyes on me when he only did like 2 tracks on the album:francis:

He was only credited for two songs on All Eyez, so it's not like he was claiming he produced the entire thing. If people think he did the entire thing, that's on them, not Dre.

Point is really vintage Dre has been gone for years. He depended on other producers to get his music and he would add finishing touches.
